You don’t have to know everything about the Duggar family to know a thing or two about some of the reality TV family’s drama over the years. Parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar had their hands full with not only more than a dozen kids, but also scandals that continuously popped up over the years every so often.
Just when Jim Bob and Michelle might have thought things had calmed down, they were hit with another unexpected scandal involving one of their adult children. On Reddit, someone compiled a timeline of the Duggar family scandals from over the years. And, looking at it now, you can see how much has changed from the time the Duggars were given their first TV special to now.
The Duggar family has been at the center of multiple scandals over the years.
In the Reddit post, a user shared a clear timeline of all of the major scandals that have touched the Duggar family over the years. And no, none of the scandals involve the daughters wearing pants or cutting their hair. According to the user who made the post, the major scandals spanned about 24 years, starting at a time right before the family was given their TLC reality show.
That first scandal occurred in 2002 and 2003, however, at the time, the public was not made aware of this. Due to leaked police reports later on, people learned that Josh Duggar was accused of molesting some of his sisters and a family babysitter, but that Jim Bob and Michelle were able to put the scandal to rest without involving any charges for the then-almost teenage Josh.
In 2015, that scandal was leaked, and then the Ashley Madison scandal involving Josh cheating on wife Anna Duggar through the popular affair website also came out. He entered a faith-based rehab program, which was detailed in the 19 Kids and Counting spinoff Counting On. Because yes, even though the flagship series was canceled following Josh’s first scandal, TLC brought the family back with the adult Duggar daughters’ own show. Which also featured most of the family.
It all started even before the 2015 scandal happened.
In 2021, Josh was arrested after child sexual abuse materal (CSAM) wasd found on a computer at the dealership he worked at. The following year, he was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison. And, just when you thought everything had calmed down, another Duggar son, this time Joseph Duggar, found himself in trouble too.
According to multiple outlets, including NBC News, Joseph was charged with the molestation of a 9-year-old which allegedly occurred in 2020. It wasn’t until 2026 that the survivor came forward and Joseph was arrested. Then, months later in 2026, the rest of the Duggars were criticized for moving through their lives as though another wild scandal had not happened and one of the oldest sons was not, once again, accused of a heinous crime.
The timeline of the Duggar scandals paints a clear picture of everything that has happened.
The timeline of all of the Duggars’ scandals, which all involve adult sons, by the way, show a pattern that people can’t really ignore. And, users speculated in the Reddit thread, there could be more scandals on the way.
“We are going to get a financial scandal shortly,” one person wrote. “We are also going to have a husband get caught on a hookup app. And at least one couple will announce a separation. This will happen within, like, the next two years I’m guessing lol.”
Another theorized, “In the future I see the feds going after [Jim] Bob for massive tax frauds and maybe some fishy things regarding his real estate shaky empire.”
