One of the best things about being a parent is the fact that we get to do the activities we loved when we were little. Reliving those fun memories we made through the lens of our kids makes everything so much better. Even if our love for mess or our quirky imagination has long left us, that magic returns when it’s time for our kids to make memories of their own.
Adding to the fun of it all is that in the time between when we were kids and our kids are the age they are now, there’s a whole lot more out there to play with. Even for activities we did as a kid, now there are sites like Pinterest and Instagram that share people’s extra fun ideas — and that’s why we’re excited to level up our snowpeople this year.
If you’re interested in an extra sprinkle of creativity, here are snowmen that are so good they give Frosty a run for his money.
I Fell Over
Much of the time, outdoor winter activities involve a lot of falling. If we're ice skating, unless we're a superstar, we will fall at least once. If we're sledding, the chances of falling and taking a tumble are pretty high. And that's why this creative snowman is giving us giggles. He fell over, legs up above his head, and that smile says it's all fun and games.
The Mail Is Here
It feels impossible to look at this and not laugh until our bellies hurt. This snowman uses a mailbox as the mouth and he looks seriously distressed. This snowman is going through something and it's bound to give the mail carrier, or anyone walking by, the laugh they need to ensure they will have the best day.
A Summer Vacation in the Winter
When it's the dead of winter and we're freezing cold, stuck inside, and have less and less sunlight, all we want is to see summer again. Being able to lounge outside and take in the sun while sipping a drink is happiness — and we love that these snowpeople are out there getting it, even though they're just pretending.
The Snowmen Are Taking Over
Millions and millions and millions of little snowmen are taking over! OK, we know there isn't technically millions of them, but we could imagine these little dudes taking up an entire field, and it's making us giggle. Each has his own expression and if the family has time to put this much detail together, we're all for it.
The Snowmen Are Alive
These are straight-up hilarious. It’s easy to imagine what it would look like if there were a field full of these guys with their glowing eyes and how much that would freak people out. The eyes are made with glow-sticks, so they’re perfectly bright to grab attention from anyone nearby.
Handstand Snowman
For some reason, it's such an obvious snowman idea, but also really clever? We've grown up making these winter guys the same way year after year, but why can't we make it upside down? The instructions are all the same as the typical snowman except we put the smaller snowball on the ground and all the face items should go on upside down.
Accordion Snowman
There is something magical about the accordion — probably because it’s not a common instrument we see often and that’s why this cool snowman is so charming. The big smile and all the details on the instrument are sure to get anyone’s attention, and a fun story to tell time and again because when do we ever see a snowman playing an accordion?
Dragon Made of Snow
Snowmen don’t need to be people, right? This spin on the snowman is super creative, a fun prank to play on someone, and just good-hearted winter fun. This dragon or (alligator?) knows who is boss and the car isn’t going to stand in its way. The neighbors will be really impressed to wake up and see this on the street.
Peek-a-Boo!
This is equal parts hilarious and creepy, but 100% hilarious and creative. Who knew that snowpeople could be so expressive? His stick arms are covering the light so he can take a look inside and play peek-a-boo. This would be something fun to surprise someone with, but the younger kids might be too frightened.

Sure, we’ve come to know Frosty as looking one way, but that doesn’t mean we can't switch things up a bit. Love working out? Want to intimidate the birds who won’t stop waking everyone up at the crack of dawn? This snowman is up for any challenge, and he won’t back down. Abs for days!
No Snow? That’s OK
No snow? No problem! If snow is unlikely to fall, or there won't be enough to build a snowman, just get creative! This "snowman" is made up of tumbleweeds that have been spray painted and dressed up. Imagine if Frosty had been made of plants instead of snow — he'd never disappear!
Snow Tauntaun
Fan of Star Wars? If yes, this snow creature will be recognizable right away. It's a Tauntaun, a white creature in the universe that Luke Skywalker rode when he was stuck in the snow. It's almost like a mix of a dinosaur and a snowy camel. If someone's ever wanted to ride one in real life, this is the chance!
Watch Out, There’s a Shark
Thinking outside the box a bit in snowman building, this one has the snowman on the ground "swimming," but he's being followed by a snow shark. Thankfully, the man in the snow is wearing a life jacket, so it might be possible for him to get away before the shark reaches him. Will we ever find out?
Let Us Pretend It’s Warm
Some of us are not built for snow, but maybe if we pretend it won't be that big of a deal it will be OK. This snowman could show Frosty a thing or two about how to have a good time and the lack of bathing suit makes that point loud and clear. Of course, there's a drink in his hand and he's wearing sunglasses — the important things.

This snowman looks like he has a goal this year of increasing his arm strength and he’s working hard at it. They may resemble tree limbs right now, but it’s all about his confidence, right? This snowman is adorable because it’s playful and that smile just makes it even funnier.

A little bit of punk and a whole lot of personality, this snowman has nothing basic in it and that's what makes so much fun. We love the love the creative use of carrots as the spiky hair, and all the other small but mighty details are there. It even has fun hoop earrings on both ears.

The big ball of snow with the smaller ones covering it makes this creature look super adorable, even if we’re not totally sure what it is. This sort of reminds us of a hedgehog but whatever it is, the adorableness makes us want to fill the yard with various sizes of this dude. Imagine how much cuter these would be if they were painted, too.
