Adrienne Bailon Reveals the Shocking Amount of Money She Spent on IVF Treatments

Getting pregnant can be a long and expensive process for some women. Adrienne Bailon-Houghton recently opened up about how much it likely cost her and her husband to conceive their son, and it is not a small amount of money — something that Adrienne has been open about being unrealistic for many families. Before welcoming her son Ever James in 2022, Adrienne was very vocal about what a difficult process getting pregnant was for her. More and more celebrities have opened up about their difficulties getting pregnant in recent years, which has led to more honest conversations about fertility, including from Adrienne.

Adrienne spent years trying to get pregnant.

Speaking with People, Adrienne shared that she endured multiple rounds of IVF, which is a detailed and expensive fertility process. "I only did eight cycles of IVF, but that doesn't include the amount of IUIs I did and every other kind of imaginable treatments that you could imagine for fertility," she explained. "So it was a pretty tough six years of trying to have my son."

She spent so much money on treatments.

When asked how much she likely spent on fertility treatment, Adrienne guessed that she spent "easily over a million." She quickly added, "And that is not realistic for the average person. And I recognize that."

Adrienne and her husband, Israel Houghton, eventually welcomed their son Ever James via surrogate in the summer of 2022.

She never shied away from talking about her struggles getting pregnant.

Adrienne spoke about her fertility journey during her time as a cohost of The Real back in 2018. She addressed the constant conversations about her getting pregnant, sharing that she felt people were often "insensitive" to the fact that it’s not always an easy process.

"I think that as an audience we should be sensitive to the fact that everybody doesn't get pregnant right away," she said. "I think for myself I thought it would happen so easily for me and it just hasn't happened that way."

Eventually, they went another route and were successful.

In August 2022, she revealed Ever’s birth on social media, writing, "Our baby boy is here & we are so in love! If you have followed our love story … you know that our journey to baby has been very challenging – But God is true to His word and His promises. We have quietly prayed while sitting on this most magnificent secret for the last 9 months."

She eventually got her happy ending.

"He is worth every tear, every disappointment, every delayed prayer, every IVF cycle, every miscarriage. Everything. All we feel is joy and overwhelming love & gratitude," she continued in her post. "Grateful to God, to our angel surrogate and to all of our friends and family who have stood with us for over 5 years on this journey. He's here and we have never been happier to lose sleep!"
