There's no question that things have been rough for Anna Duggar. She's married to Josh Duggar, the famous ex-reality star who was convicted of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material and is serving a prison term of more than 12 years.
Anna's decisions since her husband was convicted has confused fans and critics. Still, a newly resurfaced clip might clarify her reported decision to always stand by her husband.
The two of them have seven children together, and a lot of criticism has been floated Anna's way for not divorcing him.
According to reports, Anna is still very much in contact with her husband, and she takes their seven kids to visit Josh, who is serving time at Federal Correctional Facility Seagoville in Texas.
It's also been reported that Anna lives near or with Josh's parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who also have shouldered some criticism for their handling of Josh's illegal actions.
Following Josh's conviction, fans hoped Anna would leave the family and raise her kids away from the Duggars.
Anyone who knows the Duggars from watching them on TV or keeping up with the headlines is probably aware that they're a very religious family. And with their religion, they have some beliefs on marriage that can be challenging for those outside that religion to understand.
They have strict rules on marriage, divorce, and how a woman should "submit to her husband freely," and divorce is not an option.
And now a resurfaced clip from 2013 of Anna talking about marriage is making the rounds again.
In a special for the family's 19 Kids and Counting reality show, Josh & Anna: Our Story took viewers through Josh and Anna's courtship, proposal, and marriage.
The show was a "look back at Josh and Anna's defining moments" and included never-before-seen footage.
Anna is asked to share her tips for a loving marriage in one clip. Her answer was, well, telling.
On January 26, a small clip from that special was shared with a popular Reddit community that focuses on the Duggars.
In the clip, Anna's advice on loving marriage is to "focus on the positives," which sounds like generic advice. But it's the story she connected to that had people giving side-eye.
"Just focus on the positives because there are times when it's like, 'Oh, my, he didn't take out the trash!'" Anna shared. "But it's like, 'But you know what? At least I have a husband' you know? Like, he's working, like I could be out, working and taking out the trash if I didn't have a husband."
On Reddit, people pointed out that Anna's always been fully committed to Josh and probably always will be.
"It's wild that 'at least I have a husband' was never taken out of context," one Redditor explained. "She said that with her chest."
"Well, my husband is a pedophile who won't be taking out the trash for years, but at least I have a husband …" someone else shared.
"Her husband … IS the trash," another person wrote.
This isn't the first time the clip has resurfaced. About a year ago, during Josh's trials, this same clip made its way around Reddit.
