Aubrey called her husband's death 'an unimaginable tragedy.'
In a statement that Aubrey, along with Jeff’s family, released to People, she thanked everyone for their condolences and asked for privacy.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time,” the statement read.
News of Jeff's death broke on Saturday morning.
TMZ was the first to report that Jeff had been found dead on January 3 after police responded to a call for a death investigation at a Los Angeles home that morning after he was reportedly found by his assistant. Law enforcement told the news outlet that he had died by suicide and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Aubrey had been scheduled to present at Sunday's Golden Globes.
It’s not clear which award Aubrey was supposed to present at the award show, but according to TMZ, she was scheduled to appear at the ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. She ultimately skipped out on the event, which took place just two days after her husband’s death. It’s totally understandable that she wouldn’t want to be there.

Jeff was a writer and director.
Jeff truly left an impact on the entertainment world during his life. In 2004, he co-wrote the movie I Heart Huckabees, and he had directed several projects as well, including Aubrey’s 2014 movie Life After Beth, which he also wrote. More recently, he co-wrote and directed the 2022 movie Spin Me Round, which Aubrey also starred in alongside Alison Brie.
The couple had been together for more than a decade.
Though Aubrey and Jeff started dating around 2011, she didn’t confirm that they were married until 2021, when she called him her “darling husband” in an Instagram post about working on Spin Me Round with him in Italy.
“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble,” she wrote at the time.
