Barron Trump Slammed as a ‘Scammer’ After Launching New Company

He might be one of the heirs to the Trump fortune, and Melania Trump’s only child, which is kind of a feat in itself, but Barron Trump is now setting up his own financial future. Well, sort of. Along with some high school friends, Barron launched SOLLOS Yerba Mate, a startup company dedicated to making a caffeinated tea that is said to be an alternative to coffee.

That’s all well and good, but it’s giving Kendall Roy, a la Succession. Better yet, it’s giving Connor Roy in Succession who, despite being one of billionaire Logan Roy’s kids, doesn’t seem to know what to do with himself. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Barron is the director of this company, and now, people are calling him a scammer, grifter, and everything in between. To some, Barron’s efforts to earn money this way are on par with mom Melania’s own attempts.

Being a billionaire trust fund baby wasn’t enough for Barron Trump.

SOLLOS Yerba Mate is all about yerba mate tea, which is already a thing. For Barron and his buddies, though, this is a company centered around making bank, bro. Just kidding, but can’t you just imagine these trust fund nepo babies saying that to each other as they “work” in an office near Mar-a-Lago? Oh yeah, that’s the other thing. Per Fox Business, Barron’s company is located near his family’s resort in Florida.

Newsweek reported that Barron’s company was able to earn $1 million in startup capital, though it’s not totally clear where, exactly, that money came from. When details about SOLLOS Yerba Mate were posted on X, people came for Barron in replies to the X post. Most called out Trump’s youngest son for this business venture being a way to “scam” people out of money.

“How long before he steals everything and files bankruptcy?” One user asked in reply to the post about Barron’s company.

Elsewhere, on a Reddit thread about Barron’s business venture, someone commented, “They will get a $500 million contract from the Pentagon to provide drinks to the troops. Totally above board.”

Barron started the business with school friends.

At the very least, SOLLOS Yerba Mate doesn’t have Barron’s last name in the business name or on any of the cans, so he isn’t using that part of his privilege. But that cool mil he and his fellow directors of the company got in order to start it? That’s a little suspect. It’s also hard to take the company too seriously when Barron started it with some of his friends from high school.

Right now, he’s in college at New York University’s Stern School of Business. While dedicated (and maybe delusional?) Trump supporters might say he has what it takes to have a career in politics, apparently, it’s the beverage game that interests Barron for now. But who knows? Today, herbal tea. Tomorrow, the White House. Oof, OK, that wasn’t funny.
