Bethenny Frankel Admits She Was Once ‘Relieved’ That She’d Had a Miscarriage

Bethenny Frankel is getting brutally honest about her decision not to have more kids with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy. Bethenny has never minced words when it came to her troubled marriage and disastrous divorce, but this latest revelation might be one of her most shocking reveals ever. The couple married in 2010 while Bethenny was starring on The Real Housewives of New York. They welcomed daughter Bryn around the same time before they filed for divorce in 2012, which took over eight years to be finalized. Bethenny has recently given some more insight on the troubles they faced in their marriage, but one story she told sticks out more than others.

Bethenny knew she didn't want more kids with Jason.

In a new episode of her podcast Just B with Bethenny Frankel, Bethenny talked about the relief she felt having a miscarriage at six weeks pregnant while married to Jason. She had already given birth to daughter Bryn when she became pregnant again.

"In a constructive way, I said, 'I'm kind of relieved … because I don't think this is a healthy or positive relationship,'" she remembered telling Jason at the time. "It was like the first step to saying something."

Her ex had a pretty strong comeback.

Unfortunately for Bethenny, her now ex-husband did not feel the same way she did. "And he said to me, 'You're a real piece of s—, you know that?'" she remembered. "He moved out to a hotel downtown for a couple of nights, and it was total relief."

Bethenny shared more details during the most recent episode of her other podcast, Just B Divorced with Bethenny Frankel, about Jason’s view on having children, pointing to his beliefs as a red flag.

She said Jason made some questionable comments about parenthood.

Bethenny claimed that a couple months after they started dating, Jason claimed he really wanted kids and she "would have to think about getting pregnant within a reasonable period of time" because of her age.

"Now I did not think of this as a red flag. I don't know why I didn't. I think other people would think of it, but … I led with my heart and not my logic and my mind and my gut and my stomach," she said.

Bethenny takes full responsibility but also blames life in the spotlight.

"And I'm not blaming anyone else — my body, my own choice," she said. "[But] once I got pregnant, I was on the road. And once you're doing a television show, you feel responsible. I was not happy in my relationship. I kept going because I was doing a television show and I was very stupid."

Bethenny still loves being a mom.

Despite the troubled marriage and acrimonious divorce, Bethenny has nothing but love for 13-year-old Bryn.

She gushed over her teen last year for her birthday, writing, "I can’t believe how loving, sweet, silly, natural, grounded and just all around good she is. She was born a nice girl and she has never strayed. She was blessed with as many gifts as I have flaws, and I am so grateful to go through this beautiful life with her. You have given me everything I have ever needed in this lifetime and I am so grateful."
