Brooklyn Beckham frequently shares cooking videos on Instagram with his followers, but this time, it wasn’t his recipe that they were focused on. In the comments of one post he made this week, a troll went off on Brooklyn, calling his wife, Nicola Peltz, “sickly” thin. And knowing that Brooklyn doesn’t mess around when it comes to Nicola, it’s no surprise that he quickly fought back with a comment of his own.
Brooklyn was making cottage pie for his Instagram followers.
In the video, Brooklyn was making a cottage pie, which is a savory dish made with meat and veggies topped with mashed potatoes (with the help of his adorable dog in the beginning, of course).
“If anyone has noticed I LOVE making easy comfort food xx my favourite,” Brooklyn wrote in a comment.
Nicola wasn’t even in the video at any point, but that didn’t stop multiple people from commenting about her anyway under the guise of being concerned for her health.
Some people chose the comments of Brooklyn’s post to shame Nicola’s body.
This video wasn’t even about his wife, and yet, she became the subject of several comments on the post.
“But Brooklyn my love 😍 does your wife eats – she’s getting thinner and thinner every time on the photos,” one person wrote, adding, “just wondering.”
“Do you comment on everyone who is concerned about your wife and how sickly she looks?” one person asked. “She puts herself out there; feed her.”
They may not have been expecting Brooklyn to fire back at them, but he did, writing, “Don’t ever talk about my wife. She’s absolutely beautiful and you should never comment on a woman’s body, It’s disgraceful.”
They weren’t the only ones in the comment to get a little smoke from Brooklyn, either. In response to someone bashing his cooking, he replied, “Then unfollow me.”
It really is as simple as that, though.
Nicola lost a significant amount of weight for a role earlier this year.
In January, a source told People that Nicola had been intentionally losing weight to play a ballerina in the movie Prima so that she would look the part.
“She’s undergone a physical transformation and intense workout regimen for her role in Prima, where she portrays a prima ballerina,” the insider said at the time.
In the movie, Nicola plays a dancer named Margo who is raised by her grandmother, who is played by Faye Dunaway. So far, a release date has not been announced, but Mira Sorvino and Jack Huston are also part of the cast.
But no matter what’s going on with Nicola, it’s wild that we’re still commenting on people’s bodies right there on Instagram, completely unsolicited. Shouldn’t we all know better by now?
