Busy Philipps Shares Sweet Family Update 2 Weeks After Daughter Birdie’s Seizure Scare

Busy Philipps has a lot to celebrate this holiday season. The actress posted pictures of her family’s holiday celebrations this week on Instagram, and one of them was a sweet mother/daughter picture of herself and her 15-year-old daughter Birdie. Busy shared a series of pictures in an Instagram carousel post, including the sweet snap of her cradling teenage Birdie in her arms, which was featured on the fifth slide.

In the part of her caption dedicated to the photo of her with Birdie, she wrote, "still my baby."

Earlier this month, she opened up about Birdie's emergency.

Earlier this month on her podcast, Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best, Busy shared that Birdie had suffered from a seizure while at boarding school in Sweden. Busy watched the whole thing unfold over FaceTime alongside her ex-husband Marc Silverstein.

"The paramedics were on FaceTime and she had just come out of the seizure and she was still in the post-aura state. They were like, hooking her up with stuff and on FaceTime," she explained.

Busy shared how hard it was so be away from her daughter in that moment.

Busy explained that the teen was in Stockholm seeing a movie with a friend when the seizure happened. It was the friend who reached out to the actress on FaceTime so she could be kept in the loop. She added that it was "terrifying to see how she was and she was just reaching."

"She was reaching toward the camera and just saying like, calling out for me. Just saying, 'Mama. Mama. Mama. Where are you? Mama.'"

Birdie has had seizures in the past.

This wasn’t the first time Birdie has had a seizure. The first time was while Busy was filming the Mean Girls musical film, where she plays Mrs. George.

"Obviously I couldn't leave set. And Marc had run to the school and had gotten there at the same time as the paramedics so he had seen her in this, similar sort of thing before. But it was really awful seeing it on a screen, being in a different country across an ocean," she said on the podcast.

Busy gave followers a glimpse into their time at the hospital.

After Birdie was safe, Busy posted a series of pictures from her daughter's time in the hospital.

"There wasn’t a new podcast last week because I was focused on getting through the week. But we’re back today and we go through most of the past week and a half in both our lives, per usual," she wrote. "Birdie is fine. I am fine. We are all going to be okay. But it’s been a time. and a year."
