Duggar memoirs have proven to be pretty popular – after all, both Jill and Jinger have found plenty of success with theirs in recent years – and now, cousin Amy Duggar is jumping on the bandwagon. This week, Amy announced her book will be out this fall, but not everyone is excited about it. In fact, some people are already giving her some major side-eye.
Amy shared the big news on Tuesday.
The announcement was published by People, which revealed that Amy’s memoir, Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade While Getting Louder with the Truth, is now available for preorder before its October 14 release.
According to the synopsis of the book, Amy will share “her unfiltered testimony of breaking free.”
She will open up about having her voice ‘silenced’ during her stint on 19 Kids & Counting.
The synopsis goes on to say that Amy was branded as “Crazy Cousin Amy” on the Duggar family’s reality series without her consent, and she felt that this led to her being “coerced and have her voice silenced.”
“Her authentic voice was taken from her as she was told to put on a shiny, happy smile for the camera,” read the synopsis. “The gaslighting continued as she was told off-camera, ‘You’re too much’ and ‘You’re not enough.'”
She will share how she’s learned to be a ‘holy disrupter.’
In the book, Amy will encourage readers to learn how to use their voices.
But “in the years since the Duggar family collapse, Amy has intentionally dissociated from the toxic family environment, which has helped her discover how to be a ‘holy disruptor’ and make life-changing decisions for her well-being,” the book’s description read, per People.
Critics are unimpressed with Amy’s latest achievement.
On Reddit, Duggar critics aren’t particularly impressed that Amy is releasing her own book. Instead, many of them see it as her way of riding her famous family’s coattails.
“She wanted nothing to do with them and still uses the name and THEM for money. Seems legit and on target for Famy,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “There isn’t a single thought in her head that Famy hasn’t already shared on her instagram. This book will contain exactly zero new information.”
It’s hard to judge Amy’s book before reading it, though. Maybe we should all wait to pass judgment until it hits stores this October?
