What to Know
According to some, Usha Vance and JD Vance give a new name to the phrase “fix-it baby.” As in, a baby that was conceived to fix a marriage. For JD and Usha, maybe it’s also in reference to fixing the narrative that a lot of people across the world have about your marriage as a whole. Either way, people are talking on Reddit about what they really think is going on after Usha announced her pregnancy with a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Before the announcement, there were rumors and conspiracies about the future of JD and Usha’s marriage. Some people even thought the pair would get divorced and that JD would marry Erika Kirk at some point. I know, I know, it’s a wild theory to consider. But so is everything else going on in U.S. politics, so can you really blame people for coming up with what they believe to be true about the people in power?

Usha and JD Vance were rumored to have issues before they announced the pregnancy.
In December 2025, amid rumors about Usha and JD’s alleged marriage troubles, Usha spoke with USA Today about dealing with the rumors while maintaining a functioning relationship with her husband. She told the outlet that the rumors are something of a “family joke” as some speculated on the future of the marriage. Usha was seen without her wedding ring on, after all.
But, because many still believe there are issues between the pair behind closed doors, those same people think the baby is essentially a Band-Aid for their marriage. On the Reddit thread about Usha’s pregnancy, some speculated, albeit jokingly, that Usha and JD conceived their child shortly after JD and Erika hugged on-stage in an embrace that some saw as too intimate.
“Timeline for due date sounds like this was a ‘sorry baby’ after the public groping,” one Redditor theorized, in reference to the Erika and JD hug.
“Hey girl, that’s not going to fix your marriage,” another added.
Others straight up commented that the baby is a fix-it baby of epic proportions.
“It’s a ‘save the marriage’ baby that will only build resentment between Usha and JD,” someone commented on the Reddit thread. “Poor kid.”
JD and Usha already had three kids before they announced Usha’s pregnancy. However, his many critics have noted, JD has, more than once, referred to those children as “my wife’s kids” in one way or another. If their fourth isn’t meant to be a fit-it baby for the couple amid rumors of marital issues, then, according to some, it’s a distraction for the midterm elections.
In the Reddit thread about the pregnancy, someone wrote, “For midterms and to shake off those Erika allegations.” That would be a pretty big leap to add an entire human being to the mix. But with the Trump Administration, we’ve all learned by now that anything is (horrifyingly) possible.
