The home of celebrity couple David Harbour and Lily Allen is a delightful and eclectic mix of patterns, colors, and styles, just like the pair of them. They recently welcomed Architectural Digest into their Brooklyn abode to capture the quirky decor the pair spent the last year getting juuuuuust right.
Lily and David show off their wild sense of style in a new feature.
It looks like the Stranger Things star and his wife believe in the "more is more" philosophy of decorating, which is why their "garden room" is jam packed with bold colors, massive window treatments, botanical patterns, and a large chandelier.
"We have this double-sided sofa so we can argue and look at each other relaxing at the same time," Lily joked to Architectural Digest about the statement piece of furniture.
They may argue about some things, but when it comes to design they're on the same page.
The couple, who married in 2020, teamed up with designer Billy Cotton to bring their visions to life, which included a kitchen that drew inspo from a very iconic movie.
"It's a layered Italian design theme, based a little on The Godfather movies," David said. "This neighborhood in Brooklyn is an old Italian neighborhood and we liked the idea of incorporating that aesthetic."
Lily hopes the kitchen will keep her kids coming back for years.
Lily, who shares two daughters with ex Sam Cooper, likes the old Hollywood drama, but she says she has ulterior motives for going with the big kitchen design. "I want it to feel like the engine room of our lives, where we communicate and share ideas together, emotions, talk about what's happening with our day, unpack how we're experiencing the world," she said to the magazine in part.
"I think it's really important for my kids, and slightly manipulative as well, because I know they'll always come back to me on the weekends because they'll know that roast dinner is always going to be there at three o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. They'll always come home."
We think they’ll also keep coming back to raid mom’s closet.
Although Lily and David's bedroom may be a windowless space — don't worry, the pair likes it that way, considering that Lily joked that her husband is a "vampire" — Lily's closet is a bright and airy one, and you can get a full look at it on the video tour of the home in Architectural Digest's YouTube video.
The space features plenty of room for all her high-end fashion pieces as well as a spot for her to get ready each day.
The busy decor and statement pieces were well-received.
Although their taste is admittedly not for everyone, it does seem as if their unique Brooklyn townhouse was a huge hit with Architectural Digest readers.
We love the way they really let their personalities shine through with each choice they made and embraced their love of color along the way.
