17 Celebrity Weddings That Gave Us the Feels in 2020

This year has been one big roller-coaster, and that means that many of us have had to rearrange (or cancel) a lot of our plans, including some of our favorite celebrity couples. But just as some of our friends and family have found ways to celebrate the big moments in their lives — despite the ups and downs — so have stars who were determined to get married this year, and that means that there have been a lot of celebrity weddings happening in 2020, too.

Unless they got married at the beginning of the year, these celebs have had to get creative with their big days, nixing large guest lists in favor of smaller, more private ceremonies with precautions taken. It also feels like this year, there's been an influx of surprise weddings. Princess Beatrice's nuptials were something we didn't see coming, and her royal wedding was just the tip of the iceberg. Other stars — including Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, and Kathy Griffin — all got married this year, too.

Read on to see the best celebrity weddings of 2020. As much as we love the huge celebrations, seeing how these stars managed to marry the love of their lives in quiet, laid-back ceremonies has been really special, too.

John Cena & Shay Shariatzadeh

We didn't even know these two were engaged, but in October, John and Shay quietly got married in a private ceremony in Tampa … and somehow, no details about their special day managed to leak until after they'd already tied the knot. Though a pretty impressive feat, John has been all about keeping his private life private these days.

Bindi Irwin & Chandler Powell

Though they'd originally had bigger plans in mind for their wedding, in March, Bindi Irwin decided it was time to marry her longtime love — even if they had to keep the ceremony small in the Australia Zoo Gardens. With the wedding now behind them, it wasn't surprising at all to find out that they're onto their next adventure: becoming parents in 2021.

Princess Beatrice & Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Since theirs will likely be the last British royal wedding we'll have for a while, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's surprise wedding was a pretty big deal. They quietly tied the knot at the Royal Chapel of All Saints with just their closest family — including Queen Elizabeth — in attendance in July, followed by a small outdoor reception with friends.

Raven-Symoné & Miranda Maday

Raven-Symoné surprised fans when she and girlfriend Miranda Maday announced they'd gotten married in June — along with new rings and new matching finger tattoos. Sharing a photo of her with her new wife on Instagram, Raven wrote, "I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home. I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday!"

Cynthia Bailey & Mike Hill

In October, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey married Mike Hill at the Governor's Towne Club close to her hometown while wearing a totally show-stopping dress, and she shared all the gorgeous evidence on Instagram. From everything she's posted so far, it truly looks like a night the couple will never forget.

Scarlett Johansson & Colin Jost

Not only did Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost secretly get married, but they let Meals on Wheels announce the big news for them on social media, asking for donations to the organization in celebration of their love. The announcement said:

"We're thrilled to break the news that Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost were married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and loved ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC. Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica."

Liz Gillies & Michael Corcoran

After postponing their April wedding, in August, Liz Gillies and Michael Corcoran decided to get married in a sweet outdoor ceremony in New Jersey, surrounded by their closest family and friends. According to what the bride told Vogue, her father walked her down the aisle and officiated the wedding. Even their dogs were in attendance.

David Harbour & Lily Allen

This one definitely came as a huge surprise, but as it turned out, the rumors were true. In September, Stranger Things star David Harbour married singer Lily Allen in Las Vegas … in a ceremony that was officiated by an Elvis impersonator, which is the most Vegas thing ever. Definitely a unique choice, but also a fun one.

Niecy Nash & Jessica Betts

Considering the fact that, as far as fans knew, Niecy Nash had only ever been interested in men, her surprise wedding to Jessica Betts definitely came as a shock, but Niecy couldn't have been prouder to share her union with the world. In August, she shared the good news with a post from her wedding ceremony on Instagram, calling herself Mrs. Carol Denise Betts for the first time.

Brittany Snow & Tyler Stanaland

After a yearlong engagement, in March, Brittany Snow married Tyler Stanaland. In July, she finally shared her wedding photos, writing, "We knew we felt incredibly lucky to have found each other but we had no idea how lucky it would be to get married right before a monumental time in our history. Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong that day… but it was absolutely and impossibly perfect."

Kathy Griffin & Randy Bick

Right after midnight on January 1, Kathy Griffin married Randy Bick in a ceremony that was officiated by Lily Tomlin (of course) and later, she shared the entire ceremony online for her followers to watch. Now, they have a fun anniversary to share for the rest of their lives, and so many memories captured forever.

Vanessa Morgan & Michael Kopech

Though Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan and new husband Michael Kopech have already called it quits just months after tying the knot, they did get married in January. Now, they're expecting their first child together, a baby boy. They still haven't publicly shared what went wrong in their relationship, but maybe they'll fill us in someday.

Tim Tebow & Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Back in January, former NFL player Tim Tebow tied the knot with model Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in South Africa, where Demi-Leigh is from. The ceremony looked gorgeous (no surprise, considering the backdrop), and it seemed like the perfect day for this couple — who continue to share wedding photos even now, almost a year later.

JJ Lane & Kayla Hughes

Back in January, Bachelorette alum JJ Lane married Kayla Hughes in a ceremony in Denver, Colorado, followed by a tropical honeymoon in St. Lucia. The couple has been living happily ever after since, and as JJ wrote on Instagram when they tied the knot, he "didn't have to win a reality show to find the woman of my dreams."

Fortune Feimster & Jacquelyn Smith

In October, Fortune Feimster announced that she and Jacquelyn Smith got married, deciding to skip out on the wedding they'd planned and then had to postpone. "Jax and I decided to forgo the big wedding we planned to have due to the pandemic and decided fairly last minute to do a tiny ceremony on the beach," Fortune wrote in a post on Instagram. "We'll celebrate with friends and family in a year when it's safer to do so."

Alex Pettyfer & Toni Garrn

In early October, actor Alex Pettyfer married model Toni Garrn. So far, they haven't shared many wedding photos — or details about their ceremony — but they certainly seem to be happy together. They got married in Hamburg (Toni is from Germany), and had gotten engaged on Christmas Eve.

Debby Ryan & Joshua Dun

Add another New Year's wedding to the list! Though Debby Ryan and Joshua Dun were open about the New Year's Eve party they threw their friends and family, they didn't share that it was actually their wedding until months later when they shared photos — and the more intimate details of the ceremony they planned in just one month — with Vogue.
