What to Know
When you’re a parent, isn’t it a good thing to scroll through social media or even be out with your kids and come across all sorts of beautiful body types? Shouldn’t we be teaching our kids that there’s not just one size for women that’s healthy and wonderful? It seems like a pretty fundamental lesson that should not go completely over people’s heads in 2026, but, sadly, here we are.
Georgina Rodríguez, who is engaged to soccer superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, has recently faced some online trolls who have been bashing her body and overall appearance online. It’s really such a shame that she even feels the need to say anything, but the model and influencer took to her Instagram to post some cute photos along with a very lengthy message to all the haters.
Georgina shared a body positive message on her Instagram after receiving loads of offensive comments.
On Tuesday, August 4, Georgina Rodríguez, who is Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée and mother to five of his children, shared a carousel of photos on her Instagram that worked as a not-so-subtle clapback at anyone who has been commenting fat shaming remarks about her body.
The influencer accompanied her post with a lengthy message that’s chock-full of things that many people need to hear about women’s bodies. In a translation from Spanish, she said, “My body will change, just like every woman’s. And I hope I continue to do so for many years to come, because that will mean I’m still living.”
Showcasing seven photos that include a bikini mirror selfie shot and various other pictures featuring Georgina in a bikini enjoying some leisure time on the water, she also shared “I am a mother of 6 wonderful children, 3 are girls who will one day be great women,” which is probably why she also noted that “the opinion of strangers” is really not something one should focus on.
As a mother of girls, she can’t help but wonder who decides what the ‘right body’ should look like?
Georgina’s IG post is filled with all sorts of philosophical questions that women and young girls find themselves thinking about way too much in a society that’s so overtly focused on what someone looks like.
She also shared, “And then I wonder… where is the standard? Who decides which is the “right” body? Do we really still think that happiness has a size?” She also made it known that she exercises “because it makes [her] happy. Because [she’s] passionate about it. Because that hour at the gym is one of the highlights of [her] day. It gives [her] health, peace of mind, discipline, energy and wellness.”
All in all, she ended her post by sharing some body positive words of wisdom with her over 77 million followers. “I love my curves. I love the freedom to live in the body I choose. In the body that holds me, that has allowed me to embrace, create life, fall and rise again. A body deserving of respect, love and gratitude in all its versions,” she wrote.
You seriously have to appreciate her message here. May we all come back to this post when we need some uplifting!
Cristiano quickly came to his fiancé’s defense.
Georgina also shared how she was discussing these things with her fiancé, who she is set to marry in August, and he had a message to share to the masses as well.
“I was talking about it with Cris and said: ‘It worries me that people are calling me fat now, because I make a living from my image.’ And he replied: “‘You don’t live off your image. You live off who you are. A perfect woman. Beautiful, with a killer body, a mother, a good person, successful, and someone who lives life with love. What more could you want? It’s natural for people to envy you,'” she wrote. That’s actually incredibly sweet.
Lots of people on social media have also jumped to Georgina’s defense when it comes to the recent fat shaming. A few people on X were quick to express their feelings. One person shared, “What the heck is wrong with people she’s beautiful.”
Another person chimed in and stated, “People really need to get a life!! Body shaming is the worst of the worst, grow up!!” We couldn’t agree more.
