On October 3, Jason Duggar married Maddie Grace in a ceremony that came much earlier than they previously hinted. The couple said “I do” during a fall wedding in Tennessee. In revealing their big news, Jason offered insight into the surprising way he and his bride first met while helping his sister, Jana.
More often than not, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s 19 kids have connected with their significant others through mutual acquaintances (or through young men expressing interest and being screened by Jim Bob first). But that was not the case with Jason and Maddie. The former Counting On star, 24, recently opened up about the fateful meeting between him and and his new wife.

Jason met his wife while trying to help Jana find a boyfriend.
In December 2023, Jason and his future wife first connected on Instagram when he attempted to help his sister.
“I kind of basically got lost on there,” he told People. “I was telling [Jana], I was like, ‘Listen, Jana, you got to put yourself out there if you want to find a guy.’ So I was like, ‘Look, listen, I’m going to hop on here just to find someone, just to show you that I can do it.'”
As Maddie noted, their meeting came by chance.
Jason and Maddie made their relationship Instagram official in May.
On May 29, Jason low-key announced his courtship on Instagram. He did so with a carousel of photos of himself with a mystery woman at the beach. Jason captioned his update simply with a white heart emoji, offering no details about his girlfriend’s identity at the time — leading some fans to speculate he was dating a Bates daughter.

On July 4, they revealed his girlfriend's face.
In Jason’s courtship announcement post, he did not include photos of Maddie’s face. The 12th-born child of Michelle and Jim Bob did, however, reveal his girlfriend’s full look in a summer Instagram update. “celebrating the 4th with my girl 🇺🇸,” he declared in another set of couple shots.
Jason and Maddie announced their engagement in August.
In typical Duggar fashion, Jason announced his engagement shortly after revealing his courtship. The 24-year-old and his bride-to-be took to Instagram with a joint post on August 30. They wrote, “On 8/24, Jase asked me to marry him, and I could not be more excited!!” Jason added in the comments, “She said yes!!❤️💍.”
