Jed Duggar Attacks a Fan Who Defended Jill’s Criticism of Their Controlling Family

Tensions are mounting in Duggarville. Jed Duggar seems to be snapping at fans on Instagram after getting called out for the way he reacted to his sister Jill Duggar's new upcoming tell-all book. Could it be that Jed is feeling the heat now that so many of the family's skeletons are being dragged out of the closet?

It all started when Jed liked some negative comments about his sister.

After the news of Jill's book Counting the Cost: a Memoir dropped earlier this week, people took to the comments on Instagram to share their thoughts about the new tome. Although she had lots of support, there were a few naysayers who shared some backlash.

"I can't help but feel bad for your parents," one person wrote. "I cannot imagine my children writing tell-all books about family. Here's the thing Jill, NO family is perfect. Not one. And yes, while most do not have reality TV shows, you would also not have the opportunity to profit from your story."

Jed caught some flak from a fan who saw him siding with Jill's critics.

An eagle-eyed fan noticed that Jed had liked some of the comments critical of his sister and called him out, telling him he should be ashamed. "If your father had protected your sisters instead of your pervert brother and the tv show he was profiting off of, your family's dirty laundry wouldn't be aired in public," she wrote in part.

Jed fired back at the fan, prompting outrage from several others.

Now, these interactions are getting a bit of extra attention.

"Excuse you, but you don't know our family at all," Jed shot back. "Please don't make assumptions about things that 100% none of your business. The true shame is on you."

Screenshots from both comments now are making the rounds thanks to a post from Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball. She pointed out some very obvious issues with Jed's response, including the fact that the family spent years in the public eye on not one but two hit TLC reality shows.

She also highlighted some of the ways the Duggars have tried to silence Jill over the years.

"Jim Bob has Jill's siblings believing that she's dangerous and a liar. He told them she’s lied about the abuse — allegedly," Katie wrote in part of her lengthy response, adding that Josh had referred to Jill as "a snitch that ratted him out" in the past.

"Jill is the brave truth teller that threatens these men's reign of terror against their wives and women. Keep on going, Jill."

Jill has more supporters than critics.

With the upcoming release of Amazon Prime Video's docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, even more people are learning the truth behind what many current and former members of the Institute in Basic Life Principles claim is going on behind closed doors. Many of those people are turning their support toward the Duggar women who have chosen to speak out about their experience as they call for change.

Hopefully Jill is feeling that support ahead of her book release.
