Jenelle Evans, who first became known from her stint on the MTV show 16 & Pregnant and later the Teen Mom series, has not had the easiest several months when it comes to her oldest son, Jace. Now 14, he primarily lived with his grandmother, Jenelle's mom, growing up and Jenelle only recently regained custody.
It was brief, however, and now that Jace has been, once again, removed from her custody and reportedly placed in foster care for now, critics are questioning some of the things she's been sharing on social media.
Mainly she seems to prioritize herself, which critics don't think is appropriate.
The latest drama stems from a TikTok video shared by Jenelle, who is also mom to 9-year-old son Kaiser and 6-year-old daughter Ensley.
In the video, Jenelle is sitting in her car at first, drinking a Starbucks coffee. The video includes a voiceover that says, "I want you all to see. Life is great. Your life is great, too."
The voiceover continues, saying, 'Have a good time, man. Have some fun. Having fun is OK.'
The voiceover concluded: "Love is good. Spread love."
While the voice over played, the video shows small video clips of some self-care. Out by herself, it appeared, Jenelle stopped for lunch and at a spa for a pedicure.
It didn't take long for the critics to chime in, who believed this message was distasteful given what people assume is going on in her life.
Although the comments are turned off now, there were hundreds of messages calling Jenelle out before that happened.
"Oldest is in foster care, but life is good though," one person wrote.
"Jenelle is legitimately delusional and beyond pathetic," shared another commenter.
"I am all for self-care, but she’s so gross for this. Good parents never stop thinking about their children," added someone else.
"You're always thinking of YOU," shared someone else.
The video was also discussed on Reddit, with a lot of criticism there, too.
In the popular Reddit community TeenMomOGandTeenMom2, someone reshared Jenelle's TikTok video with the title, "Oldest is in foster care but LiFe iS gOoD tHoUgH," which garnered hundreds of comments of critique.
"If my child was sitting in foster care I’d never show my face to the general public ever again and I would be absolutely embarrassed," one critic wrote. "This b—- has zero shame."
"And tomorrow she’ll be posting about how she’s so depressed and she’s been crying for a specific amount of time and everyone else is responsible for her mood and no one understands etc etc," someone else added.
'She's just happy that her mother doesn't have Jace,' wrote another critic.
People continued slamming Jenelle, and no one really had anything nice to say.
"Her son spent Thanksgiving weekend with strangers while she lived it up bowling & getting a pedicure," wrote another commenter. "She’s truly doing her best…to pretend that Jace doesn’t exist."
"Can anyone name one time Jenelle spread love to anyone but herself? Can we name one selfless act?" another Redditor questioned. "Because I’m drawing a blank. Her whole life is self serving."
"Congratulations Jenelle! You’ve finally won … you got Jace away from Barbara and you don’t have to deal with him," someone else added. "Score!"
According to reports, Jace has been through a lot in life and more so over these past few weeks.
Last week, it was reported that Jace ran away from his grandma Barbara's house after he was placed with her again following a removal from Jenelle's after allegations that her husband, David Eason, physically assaulted the teenager.
At the time, it was reported that when Jace was found, he wasn't returned to Barbara's or Jenelle's home, instead going to a mental health facility for treatment.
We hope that wherever Jace is that he's getting the care he deserves, and we hope for healing all around.
