Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard have laid their baby girl to rest. Last week, the couple revealed that not only had Jill been four months pregnant, but that she had given birth to a baby who was stillborn. They shared that the baby had been a girl — their first daughter, whom they named Isla Marie. Jill wasn’t due until the summer, which could have been why they hadn’t yet shared the pregnancy, but the news was devastating for the family.
This week, the couple shared that they had held a funeral for their baby girl, posting pictures of their preparations on social media. Many of their followers shared similar stories of their own losses to offer the family comfort.

They held a funeral for their sweet baby.
“Isla Marie, our baby girl. We will love you forever & hold you in our hearts until we hold you in heaven. Laid to rest 4.19.2024,” Jill captioned the post.
The post featured photos from the funeral, including a very tiny casket covered in flowers. Jill showed a picture of the funeral program, which included the meaning of their baby’s name as well as favors that were plantable cards.
Many followers offered support and shared their experiences.
“I’m so sorry, my first daughter was born still at full term 27 years ago,” one follower commented. “The smallest caskets are the heaviest.”
Another comment read: “Coffins shouldn’t be that small. I’m so sorry. Thankful she is with Jesus.”
Another follower shared: “The little books and toys just broke my heart. I’m so sorry you’re going through this devastating loss. Praying for your sweet family and healing for all of your hearts.”
They announced the loss last week.
Jill and Derick shared earlier this month in an Instagram post that they had lost their baby girl. In the picture, the bereaved couple could be seen holding their baby wrapped in a blanket.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard. Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero,” they began the post’s caption.
The family is grieving the loss.
“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby. Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie,” they finished.

This isn't Jill's first pregnancy loss.
Jill suffered her first pregnancy loss in October 2021 when she and Derick shared that she had a miscarriage during the first trimester. “We recently found out we were expecting our third baby. We were thrilled! However, a few days later we started miscarrying,” Jill captioned the Instagram post. Their rainbow baby Freddy was born in 2022.
