Jodie filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Sources close to the couple have confirmed that the wheels are now in motion for Jodie and Joseph to legally go their separate ways, according to People. At the time of the filing, Jodie also requested 50/50 shared custody of the 3-year-old daughter the couple shares.
Jodie is citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their breakup.
According to TMZ, the documents were filed by popular celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser, and though they don't appear to have a prenup in place, Jodie is asking that neither of them receives spousal support after their split.

The split was very recent.
The documents stated that the date of their separation was September 13, just a few weeks ago. It seems like the breakup may have been a sudden one, especially because Jodie and Joshua attended an event celebrating JCrew's 40th anniversary on September 7 just a week earlier.
Their breakup is a surprising one.
If you didn't see this coming, you're not the only one, especially because the couple seemed so happy just weeks ago. Back in March, Joshua described his life with Jodie as "magical" while talking to E! News.
"It's pretty spectacular, honestly. Mama does love a dress up and I don't mind getting dressed up and standing next to her. But this having a kid thing together is pretty magical," he said.
So far, the couple has yet to issue a statement on the split.
But considering that world only just found out that Jodie and Joshua are going their separate ways, it wouldn't be surprising if a statement from their reps was coming soon.
