Joy-Anna Duggar faces a lot of hate online and it seems she can’t do anything without it being critically analyzed and torn apart. That’s what has happened again after she posted an update to YouTube with a video of her youngest son, Gunner.
On May 17, Joy-Anna and her husband, Austin Forsyth, welcomed a baby boy.
On May 21, the proud mama shared the news to social media that she had welcomed a little baby boy into the world. Posting the first photo, Joy-Anna also shared the unique name she and Austin gave their son.
“Gunner James Forsyth,” the mom of three wrote, adding a blue heart emoji at the end.
People had feelings about the name the moment Joy-Anna shared her news.
The name Gunner isn’t common, and she was ripped apart online for choosing this unique name, with people calling it out for being a “dog” name.
In the comment section of Joy-Anna’s birth announcement several months ago, other parents said they love the name she gave her son. Also, a few people commented that they have a son with the same name — just spelled differently.
But there are two ways to spell the baby boy name — Gunner and Gunnar.
According to Joy-Anna’s birth announcement, she and Austin went with the spelling “Gunner,” which is technically the more common spelling in the United States.
According to the US Social Security Administration, the boy name Gunnar was ranked 589 on its popularity name list, dropping slightly from 540 in 2021.
The name Gunner spelled with the "e" ranked higher, landing at 387 in 2022 and 325 in 2021.
Unfortunately, according to a screen grab on the popular Reddit forum, DuggarSnark, in the latest video share on YouTube, Joy-Anna spelled her son’s name wrong.
“Imagine not being able to spell your own kid’s name,” the post title read, which included a screenshot of what looks like the title of their latest YouTube video showing it spelled as “Gunnar.”
Critics debated the blunder in the Reddit thread, with a few people coming to her defense.
“Wow…that is unfortunate!” one person wrote.
“Holy s— … this is new low,” another commenter added.
“This just makes me terribly, terribly sad,” someone else shared.
“Gunnar is the traditional spelling,” one person offered, “maybe autocorrect got her?”
“Since that is the correct spelling in Europe, you go Joy!” someone else cheered.
“I wonder if it just autocorrects and she doesn’t catch it,” someone else suggested.
Now when you head to the YouTube video in question, Joy-Anna appears to have fixed the spelling error.
The title of the video now reads “Gunner is huge.” However, in the description of the video, it’s still spelled “Gunnar.”
Of course, none of this matters in the long run, and nothing bad will happen from a simple spelling error.
