It’s still kind of hard for fans to wrap their minds around the fact that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are together, but it’s even more wild now that it’s obvious this unexpected celebrity couple appears to be in it for the long haul. He’s even participating in Katy’s TikTok videos… including one she posted this week that turned out to be so awkward that people can’t stop talking about it.
Katy shared a video of people hopping around to her song on TikTok.

As Katy’s song “Watch It Burn” plays, she is hopping around to the music as people (likely the crew working on her tour) appear behind her, jumping around, too. Soon enough, Justin also joins the dance crew, his hair flopping all over the place while he bounces around.
“Ancient texts say that if you hop to this song you will get 1,000 years of good luck,” Katy wrote in her caption.
She might have been the star of the video (which was promoting her own music), but people really took notice of Justin, sparking a bit of a debate in the process.
Some people were a bit… taken aback by Justin’s hopping.
A post on Reddit about the video drummed up so much discussion that it had more than 800 comments less than 24 hours after Katy posted the footage.
Several people were so weirded out by Justin’s dancing in the video that they couldn’t get past it – especially since a few of them saw his moves as trying too hard to be relatable to the masses. “They are both so deeply cringey,” one person wrote.
One Canadian simply could not get over the fact that this was their former leader in action, writing, “As a Canadian, this is so f—— weird to me…like this used to be my prime minister?! He’s so unserious.”
Others are genuinely so happy for him.
While some might have found it weird to see Justin jumping around like this because he was once in such a serious government position, others actually thought that part of his past made it even more special that he’s having fun like this now, after what must have been a truly stressful job.
“Honestly he was far from a perfect prime minister but I’m grateful for what he did during COVID and I think he deserves to have some fun and just live a bit now,” one commenter wrote.
For others, it was more about realizing that this unexpected paring actually does make a lot of sense: “Justin Trudeau always gave me labrador energy and this whole Katy Perry era really reinforces that. They seem to genuinely be well matched, even if it’s a weird AF pairing.”
They’re happy and having fun together — honestly, what’s not to like?
