Kailyn Lowry is opening up about her recent experience as a NICU mom, including sharing the first photo of her with her newborn twins. Lowry and her boyfriend, Elijah Scott, revealed on her Barely Famous podcast that the twins, who were born five weeks early, had extended stays in the NICU but are home now, joining Lowry's five other children.
Although Kailyn opened up about her birth experience, which included her first time having a C-section and making the decision to have her tubes tied after the twins were born, she's still being a little bit cagey on one of the details fans are most curious about. Yep, we still don't know the names of the babies.

Kailyn refers to the babies as 'Baby A' and 'Baby B.'

One of the saddest details from Kailyn's birth story with the twins is that she wasn't able to hold them until more than 24 hours after their birth. Her twins (a daughter she refers to as "Baby B" and a son she refers to as "Baby A") were both placed in the NICU immediately after they were born.
Their stay in the NICU was an extended one, according to Lowry, who noted in the podcast episode about the birth that "They weren't just there for a couple of days. We were there for a couple of weeks."
Kailyn worried about balancing NICU life and caring for her other kids.

Both of the twins spent time in the NICU, but it was Baby B who had a longer stay and some additional struggles, according to Kailyn.
The Teen Mom 2 star explained that her baby girl seemed to struggle with feeding, noting, "I had never seen a baby in my life not wake up to eat or show signs of hunger. She would just sleep through feedings. She never had any feeding cues and when I tried to feed her, she wouldn't take a bottle."
Eventually, Baby A was released from the hospital, while Baby B stayed in the NICU. This would be a stressful situation for any parents, but even more so when they have a large family at home. She and Scott took turns going to the hospital which was "an hour drive there and back and when I was there, I was there for hours. And then we have six other kids. When he was discharged from the NICU, we had him at home."

Kailyn tried to make NICU 'homey' for her little girl.

Because she was dividing her time between being home with the other children and with her baby in the NICU, Kailyn said she tried to make the hospital space feel a little less lonely. During the podcast, she shared that "I printed out pictures for the NICU wall because I didn't know how long we'd be there and I wanted it to make sure that it felt homey. I just didn't want her to be alone."
All of this stress also took a toll on Kailyn, who stated that she "cried a lot. I probably cried more with the NICU journey than the C-section stuff."
Kailyn is 'still processing' what the first few weeks of life were like for the twins.
Having a baby is always a life-changing experience that brings up a lot of emotions, but having a NICU stay and then adding two babies into a family that already has five other kids (ages 1 to 14), is a lot. Kailyn sounds like she's still making sense of all of it, noting, "I still don't even know if we've processed it. I don't think I've processed it to this day. We went to the pediatrician yesterday, and I'm still very much concerned about so many things."
Thankfully, she also shared that she feels like she's better able to bond with her babies now that they are all home. Now all fans can hope for is that she decides to reveal their names and maybe some more photos soon!
