Kim Kardashian Is Producing & Starring in a Docuseries About Elizabeth Taylor

Kim Kardashian has a new project, and some people are big mad about it — not that she's any stranger to controversy! Kim has signed on to executive produce a three-part docuseries on actress and icon Elizabeth Taylor. While it may seem like the perfect fit for some, as Elizabeth knew a thing or two about a scandal herself, some fans are less than thrilled with Kim’s involvement. In fact, some people are going so far as to say that they won’t watch the series because of Kim.

What is so special about Elizabeth Taylor?

Elizabeth Taylor was an Oscar-winning actress, a brilliant businesswoman, a fashion icon (her diamond collection was legendary), and an activist who fought to get funding for AIDS research at a time when no one else was willing to champion the cause because of the stigma around it.

On the other hand, she was also known for her many marriages and addiction issues.

The docuseries will dig deeper into Elizabeth's story than any other.

BBC Arts commissioned a three-part docuseries tentatively called Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, the brand announced in a press release. It will feature those closest to Elizabeth, such as friends, family, and former colleagues, sharing stories about the actress.

"This series gives Elizabeth Taylor the significance she richly deserves, in all her incarnations: as an actor, rebel, business mogul, and activist — to reveal how Taylor created the blueprint for modern celebrity," the press release reads.

And now, Kim is attached to the project, too.

In addition to being one of the executive producers, Kim will be featured sharing stories of the iconic actress as well. After all, Kim was the one who conducted the last interview she gave before she died of congestive heart failure in 2011.

"Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter," Kim said in the BBC press release. "She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life — and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint."

Besides Kim, the series will feature legendary actress Joan Collins, "a friend and Hollywood contemporary who competed with Elizabeth for the role of Cleopatra," actress Margaret O’Brien, who went to school with Elizabeth on the MGM backlot, well-known scientist Dr. Anthony Fauci, who worked alongside Elizabeth in the fight against AIDS, and more.

People are not pleased with Kim's involvement.

Because of Elizabeth’s status as a Hollywood icon, many fans are threatening to boycott the series due to Kim’s involvement. GB News reported people’s tweets sharing their displeasure.

"A f—ing menace to society," one person wrote.

"Can this family please leave classic movie stars alone," another shared.

"Stop cheapening Legendary starlets," someone else pleaded.

Maybe we should wait to judge until we've seen the docuseries for ourselves?
