Kody Brown is mourning “the end of an era.” His ex-wife Meri Brown’s move from Arizona to Utah was “the final nail in the coffin of our dream,” he said on the most recent episode of Sister Wives. However, Meri doesn’t understand why Kody had such an emotional reaction to her move considering he didn’t want to work on their relationship or try to save their marriage before it was too late.

Kody called Meri his 'favorite ex-wife.'
As Kody helped Meri move to her new home, they actually enjoyed each other’s company. Kody joked that Meri is his “favorite ex-wife” of the three from their plural marriage who have left him in recent years, including Christine and Janelle.
āFinally, I can be the favorite!ā Meri quipped. In a confessional on Sister Wives, Meri reflected on the pleasant reaction but also noted that she doesn’t have any regrets.
“Itās like weāre seeing parts of ourselves that we loved back in the day,” Meri said. “I also donāt feel any regret about where we are now.ā
At one point, he started crying.
Later, though, Kody became more emotional, calling Meri’s move “the end of an era.” “We had something special and it feels like it just all went to s—, sort of,” Kody cried as he spoke to Meri.
“It is just heartbreaking in a way,” he went on to say. “And I love the life I have, but it’s a very different life than what I had three years ago, you know? It just seemed like everybody else just went, ‘This isn’t important.'”

Meri was baffled by Kody's reaction.
Given that Meri was willing to work on their relationship, she had a hard time understanding why Kody was suddenly so emotional about letting her go. After all, from her perspective, “It didn’t have to be this way.”
“I do not understand. I don’t get it,” she said. She added, “I don’t know where this is coming from. I do not understand it. He has made it clear that he did not want me in his life. So why this emotion?”
Meri and Kody officially announced their split in 2023.
Kody and Meri tied the knot in 1990. In 2014, they got divorced so Kody could legally marry Robyn. However, Kody and Meri remained married in the eyes of the church. Nearly 10 years later, they announced their separation. Meri later asked for a “release” from Kody, meaning she has finally cut her final tie to her former husband.
Before separating, Meri tried to make their relationship work.
On a previous episode of Sister Wives, Meri said she did everything on Kody’s “list of things that he wanted me to do in order for us to work on our marriage.” In spite of this, he didn’t want to work on their marriage.
āOnce I completed that list, he was done,” she said at the time. “I recognize now that he was like, āThereās nothing else I can ask. Thereās no other thing that I can use as an excuse of why Iām not working on this marriage with her because I had done everything that he asked of me.”
