This Is Kody & Christine Brown’s Stance on Their Daughter Gwendlyn Brown Marrying a Woman

Kody Brown and Christine Brown seemed to be supportive of their daughter, Gwendlyn Brown, marrying a woman. In an episode of Sister Wives that premiered on Sunday, November 10, 2024, the entire Brown family came together to celebrate Gwendlyn’s engagement to her partner Bea Queiroz. During the episode, both Kody and Christine broke away for a confessional to share how they felt about their daughter’s relationship with another woman.

Kody said he didn't have any issues.

“I had no problem with Gwen marrying a woman,” Kody said during his confessional. “Gwendlyn came out, but she wasn’t as articulate about it. She talked about how she, you know, was attracted to both sexes.”

When the 23-year-old explained her sexuality during an episode of Sister Wives in 2022, she said, “I’m not only attracted to women. I’m also attracted to men and people that fall into other gender spectrums.” She publicly came out in 2020.

Kody doesn't feel it's his place to judge.

Continuing on, Kody revealed that he doesn’t believe he can cast judgment. “I specifically had an experience where God said (as God), ‘I judge.’ and he told me, ‘And you love.’ That’s how I live if I can,” he said. His ex-wife, Christine, was also supportive of their daughter.

Here's how Christine felt.

Christine was present at the engagement party with her now-husband David Woolley. “We lived in Flagstaff when Gwendlyn told us that she was gay. Look, we all knew!” she said. “But to see Gwendlyn’s eyes just light up around Bea, and Gwendlyn is so comfortable around her. They’re just cute together. It’s such a relief when your child finds their person.”

Gwendlyn's wedding was a big family affair.

Most of the Brown family attended Gwendlyn and Bea’s wedding in July 2023. Kody and Robyn Brown attended, but were two hours late. “My dad and Robyn were just kind of there. They showed up like two hours late and just kind of hung out,” she shared while talking about her wedding during a livestream on her YouTube channel.

Gwendlyn has another sibling who is part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Gwendlyn isn’t the only sibling within the Brown family who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2017, Leon, who is the child of Kody and Meri Brown and was known as Mariah at the time, came out as gay. In 2022, they came out as transgender and changed their name. Gwendlyn previously spoke of their relationship.

“With Leon being transgender and queer in general and being in a family that predominantly practices a Mormon Fundamentalist faith, Mormonism hasn’t traditionally been kind to queer people,” she said. “Especially with a family that’s quite a bit conservative and partially against transsexuality in general. [Leon has] just been separating themselves from the situation, and has been sticking with people who are more safe with them. It’s not that they’re not fitting in. It’s that they have chosen to go to people they can trust. They’ve found a safer community for themselves.”
