When it comes to choosing the perfect Father’s Day gift for her husband, Jason Kelce, Kylie Kelce thinks she “nailed it” this year. On the latest episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie, 33, shared some Father’s Day gift-giving tips. Conveniently, Kylie’s gift ideas for dads also double as gifts for moms.
Kylie found the perfect gift for Jason.
Before sharing her gift ideas, the mom of four said she has “such a good gift” this year. “It’s amazing,” she said. “I feel like I nailed it, but we’ll find out when I give it to him.” Of course, she couldn’t ruin the surprise, but she did talk about what her family has done for Father’s Day in the past.
In general, their approach is nothing “too crazy.” Each year, their daughters make cards for their dad, and now that they can write on their own (with a bit of help from Kylie), Jason might get handwritten Father’s Day cards for the first time.
For those who haven’t purchased a gift yet, Kylie has some ideas.
She referred to her gift ideas as the “Mother’s Guide to Father’s Day” because her gift ideas for dads are actually gifts for moms as well. Her first idea? Plan an outing so the kids and their dad can spend quality time together – without mom.
“You know how you should celebrate Father’s Day?” Kylie said. “By being the ultimate dad! If you take them out without mom, then you’re gonna get so many compliments from strangers.”
She emphasized that the number of compliments dads receive for going out with their own kids is actually “unreasonable.” “All of the boomers you come across are going to be like, ‘You’re the best dad. You’re amazing, look at you,'” Kylie said.
She suggested getting tickets to a sporting event.
But with a catch – the tickets are for him and the kids and definitely “not him and his friends.” Kylie also offered up some other ideas for a dad and kids outing: a day at the water park or, even better, an overnight camping trip.
“If it’s not already clear, mom would stay home for all these activities,” Kylie emphasized. “Have fun, mom. Kick your feet up. Read a book. Put the show on. Binge it.”
Her other gift ideas were equally strategic.
Are there any new gadgets or appliances you have your eye on? Kylie recommends buying them for Father’s Day. She also told other moms to consider buying their partner “clothes you would like him to start wearing.”
“Does your husband also wear T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops nearly 100% of the places you go?” Kylie asked. Admittedly, she doesn’t actually have a problem with it herself. “But if anyone wants their partner to start jazzing it up a little bit, buy him a nice new outfit,” Kylie continued. “Even better, tell him the kids picked it out. It’ll work. I promise.”
Kylie joked that she would buy Jason a banana hammock.
However, she will not actually be purchasing one. “If I personally was gonna buy Jason some clothes, I’d probably buy him a banana hammock,” Kylie said. “Just kidding. Four kids is enough.”
There’s one gift idea that Kylie ‘aggressively’ supports.
Though she did suggest sending the kids away with their dad earlier on in the episode, what Kylie actually prefers is a child-free vacation. “Celebrate fatherhood the right way with a child-free trip, where no one’s yelling at either of you to wipe their butt,” Kylie said on the podcast. “This is a very good one. I endorse this one aggressively.”
For parents who can’t be away from their kids for too long, Kylie suggested going to a concert or a restaurant. “I did, in fact, make a reservation for Father’s Day at a restaurant that I do indeed love,” she admitted. “They key is that Jason also loves it.”
Given that Kylie and Jason just welcomed their fourth daughter, Finnley, taking a child-free trip isn’t an option for them this year. She did, however, share that they enjoyed several such trips last year. “That’s how we ended up with Finn,” Kylie laughed.
