It’s still sinking in that former One Direction member Liam Payne is gone, and now, his girlfriend is finally speaking out. Kate Cassidy broke her silence two days after Liam died after falling from a balcony at the Argentina hotel he was staying in at the time. The couple took their relationship public nearly two years ago.

Kate shared her message on her Instagram Stories.
Though her post has since expired, according to Good Morning America, Kate started her message by thanking her followers and loved ones for their support.
“I have been at a complete loss,” she wrote in the post. “Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
She went on to address her late boyfriend directly.
“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely,” Kate continued. “I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”
Kate often shared glimpses into her relationship with Liam online.
She and Liam would pose together for photos she shared on Instagram after the couple took their relationship public at the end of 2022, and he’d even participate in some of the TikTok trends she’d create videos for, like this one. It seems like they had a lot of fun together, and after two years of dating, it’s no wonder Kate would want her privacy at such a difficult time.

Kate had been on vacation with Liam until a few days before his death.
She shared a vlog of her travels after leaving Argentina to go back to her home in Florida without her boyfriend.
“I was so ready to leave, honestly. I love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long, but we were supposed to be there for just five days, it turned into two weeks,” she explained in the video, pointing out the irony of her seat on the airplane back home being seat 1D, a reference to One Direction.
Investigations into Liam's death are still ongoing.
Though the full results of Liam’s autopsy are still pending, on Monday morning, sources told ABC News that Liam had multiple substances in his system at the time of his death, including benzodiazepine, cocaine, crack, and “pink cocaine,” which the site notes is a mix of drugs like methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA.
