Throughout their time on reality TV, the Duggar family has never tried to hide how differently they approach dating. On Counting On, fans got to watch Jim Bob and Michelle’s oldest daughters enter parent-supervised courtships before walking down the aisle and starting families, and it all seemed to happen at warp speed. But even now that some of these policies seem to have relaxed over the years, Maddie Duggar‘s new Instagram post is really hammering home just how quickly these relationships move.

Maddie shared a post about her relationship with Jason earlier this week.
Though it has since expired from her Instagram Stories, fans on Reddit captured a screenshot that showed a photo of Maddie and Jason together, which she captioned, “1 year of knowing you.”
She wrote, “A year ago today, Jase and I began our journey and I am so blessed to look back on how far we’ve come! I would have never guessed we’d end 2024 newly wed, and I can’t wait to see what the future has for us!”
People are baffled by how quickly this relationship moved.
On a popular Duggar-related subreddit, critics talked about just how quickly Maddie and Jason’s relationship proceeded āĀ a fact that was made even more obvious by her post.
“Canāt fathom being married to someone I havenāt even known less than a year,” one person wrote.
Another commented, “They hadnāt even KNOWN each other for a year before they married?! What in the world???? I mean, I know fundies move fast, but good lord. The whiplash I got reading that.”
Others pointed out that their relationship likely wouldn't slow down any time soon.
Though some Duggar couples have taken a bit of a breather after getting married before having babies, more than one commenter predicted that wouldn’t be happening for Maddie and Jason.
“Iām predicting a baby will be in the next year update. I hope not, thereās plenty of time. But these people are rabbits,” one person wrote.

Jason and Maddie met online.
When the couple tied the knot in October 2024, they told People that Jason had first found Maddie on Instagram in December 2023 when trying to help show big sister Jana how to meet potential partners online.
āJase found my profile just because he accidentally tapped on the notifications button, he saw my profile picture,ā Maddie said at the time. āHe was like, āOh, sheās cute.ā It was definitely a God thing though. Thereās no way we wouldāve found each other. It was just crazy.ā
Things moved quickly after that.
According to Maddie’s Instagram post, the two would meet in person just weeks later, and by May, they were social media official. Fast forward to August, and they were making their engagement public less than two months before their wedding in early October ā which took place just nine months after meeting in person for the first time.
It’s very fast, but they say when you know you know, and it seems like these two definitely knew!
