As wildfires rage across the Los Angeles area, Mandy Moore has shared heartbreaking footage of the devastating impact a fire had on her community. In a January 8 post, Mandy said that she’s “grateful” that her family was able to evacuate before the Eaton fire destroyed homes and other structures in her neighborhood. And like anyone would at a time like this, she remains “in shock.”

Her kids' school was destroyed.
In her initial post, Mandy didn’t say whether or not her family lost their home in the fire, but did mention that many of her favorite places burned to the ground.
“Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family,” the This Is Us actress wrote. “My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too.”
In a follow-up post, Mandy opened up about what happened to her family's house.
“Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing,” she shared on January 9. “For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact.” Although they didn’t lose all of their home, her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, lost his music studio, and the fire destroyed the family’s garage and back house.
Mandy and Taylor are parents to August “Gus” Harrison, 3, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett, 2, and Louise Everett, whom they welcomed in September 2024. In one post, Mandy noted that she’s “grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets).”

The fire had a devastating impact on her community.
On Thursday, Mandy shared three photos of the heartbreaking aftermath of the fire on her street.
“Everyone we know lost everything,” Mandy added. “Every house on our street is gone. My in laws. My brother and sister in law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends (all lost everything).”
She said she has 'survivor's guilt.'
Because so many loved ones lost everything in the fire, Mandy is “feeling weird survivors guilt.” She also wrote about the love she has for her community. “We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support,” she continued. “Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”
She shared a few updates via her Instagram Stories.
In one post, Mandy wrote that she was “devastated,” “gutted,” and “absolutely numb.” She revealed a few hours later that some of her loved ones lost all of their belongings in the fire.
“Our friends lost their house and everything they own, like so many,” she wrote in one post. In another, she said her brother-in-law and sister-in-law “lost everything.” They also canceled their baby shower, which was scheduled for Thursday.
