A friend of Meghan Markle is defending her new lifestyle series. Though the new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, has not premiered yet, it has already garnered a lot of negative attention. Despite claims that the show’s trailer makes the Duchess of Sussex seem out of touch, chef Adrian Lipscombe says Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are actually “some of the most down-to-earth people.” In defending Meghan, Adrian also made a rare comment about Princess Lilibet.

Chef Adrian Lipscombe has shared a meal with Meghan Markle.
In a January 5 Instagram post, Adrian wrote that she “had the pleasure of meeting @meghan over food.”
While eating together, Adrian and Meghan mostly talked about their families and food, Adrian revealed. “She didn’t rush the conversation, even though I was taking up her time,” the chef added. “She was gracious, engaged, and kind.”
Lilibet is in her 'princess phase.'
Adrian also revealed that her daughter and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet are currently going through the same phase. During their conversation, Adrian and Meghan talked about “our daughters being in their princess phase and the movies they love.” Clearly, the fact that 3-year-old Lilibet actually is a princess hasn’t stopped her from going through this phase.

Meghan's friend thinks the criticism directed at the new Netflix show is unfair.
In her post, she specifically called out Eater, a food publication owned by Vox Media, for its critique of Meghan’s new show, which, again, hasn’t premiered yet. “How are you going to criticize someone or judge a TV show before it has even aired?” Adrian wrote. “@eater, there was a time we looked to you for thoughtful reporting, a pulse on food trends, and some real insight into the food world. But now? This feels like a step down.”
Her post referenced a specific article titled, “I’m Already Bored by Meghan Markle’s New Netflix Cooking Series.” Eater published the article on January 2, shortly after the first trailer for Meghan’s show came out.
'Where are the Black female-led shows and roles in the food world?' Adrian questioned.
She urged the publication to consider “the bigger picture,” and emphasized that it “isn’t just about Meghan Markle.”
“It’s about a systemic issue in media and entertainment that continues to dismiss or belittle efforts by women, especially women of color, to create something meaningful,” Adrian wrote. She added that “representation is already so scarce,” yet people are critiquing Meghan’s show before watching it. “Now, a show that has the potential to spotlight food, culture, and storytelling is being torn apart before it even has a chance,” she said.
Meghan's upcoming series is expected to drop on January 15.
Meghan’s show will also feature celebrity guests. “She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same,” Netflix said in a press release. The trailer has given viewers a glimpse into Meghan’s life in Montecito, California, including her impressive garden.
