On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their annual holiday card. The card featured six images, including one of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do their best to keep their kids out of the spotlight, their faces are not visible in the picture. Instead, the photo shows Archie, 5, and Lili, 3, eagerly running toward their parents. In the days since the holiday card was shared, however, some people have claimed that the photo seems altered.

Harry and Meghan's kids hadn't been on their holiday card in years.
The last time Harry and Meghan included photos of their kids on their holiday card was in 2021, the year they welcomed Lili. This time around, they’re present ā we just don’t get to see their faces. In the photo, Harry and Meghan have their arms open as their kids are running toward them, and of course, the family’s beloved dogs are also in the picture.
Critics slammed Harry and Meghan for manipulating the image.
Though the rare photo of the whole family captured a sweet moment, many naysayers criticized the picture on social media.
Per the Daily Mail, some critics accused the family of using AI or using Photoshop to manipulate the photo.
On X (formerly Twitter), people pointed to the length of Meghan’s arm and the image’s low resolution as “evidence” that someone edited the photo. One person claimed Meghan’s arm is “twice as long as a normal arm,” while another wrote, “The black dog has 3 legs and a strange shimmering edge to his body.”
Another person on X called the photo “a sloppy and manipulated image.”

Some suggested that the photo was staged.
Some people called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex out for being inauthentic. Though they didn’t accuse the couple of editing the photo or using AI, they thought it looked staged.
“Who thought this scene with such OBVIOUS staging was a good idea?” one person wrote, per the Daily Mail. The publication also asked some experts about the image. While one expert admitted that the photo looked “very staged,” he said he didn’t spot any signs of AI.
Fans of Harry and Meghan praised the couple for keeping their kids out of the spotlight.
To fans of the couple and their holiday card, the photo seemed like a strategic way to include the kids while also keeping them out of the public eye. “I don’t think people understand how much this will mean for these children in the future,” one fan wrote on X. “Harry and Meghan preserving their children from the public is one of the best gifts a famous parent can give.”
Previously, Kate Middleton admitted to editing a photo after people noticed inconsistencies.
In March, news agencies removed a photo of Kate with her three children because it seemingly had been manipulated. Later, Kate took responsibility. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she wrote at the time. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Motherās Day.”
