In New Netflix Documentary, Martha Stewart Reveals Ex-Husband ‘Never Knew’ She Cheated on Him

The first trailer for Martha Stewart‘s upcoming Netflix documentary, Martha, is finally here, and it looks like she’s going to be opening up for the first time about something big that happened in her past. Martha revealed that she cheated on ex-husband Andrew Stewart while they were still married, even admitting that he never knew it happened. It’s safe to say he knows now, though …

The trailer for 'Martha' dropped on Thursday.

As the trailer begins, Martha asks, “What does it mean to be the first female self-made billionaire in American history?” It looks like the documentary will explore just that, as the clips that follow show moments from early on in Martha’s career to where she is today.

Her personal life doesn’t appear to be off limits, either – including when it comes to her former husband.

In one clip, Martha offered her advice to any women who might be watching.

Talking to a producer, Martha says, “Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s––. Get out of that marriage.”

The producer then asks her, “Didn’t you have an affair early on?”

She replied, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Andy is Martha’s first and only husband, Andrew Stewart, and they were married from 1961 to 1990. They share one child, daughter Alexis Stewart, who is now 59 years old.

There have been rumors in the past about Martha cheating on Andy.

As the Daily Mail reported back in 2014, author Jerry Oppenheimer wrote in his book Just Desserts that Martha had let it slip that she’d cheated on her husband during a business trip to Los Angeles during one of their arguments toward the end of their marriage.

“Andy was floored. But Martha dismissed the tryst as ‘a one-time thing … merely an experiment,'” he wrote in the book. He added, however, that Andy had reportedly cheated on Martha while they were married, too.

She hadn’t confirmed the rumors until now — though saying that Andy didn’t know she had been unfaithful would contradict what Jerry wrote in his biography of the star.

In the trailer, Martha shared that she was thankful for her divorce.

After admitting that the “very painful” divorce was also the first that had ever happened in their family — especially because she and Andy haven’t talked since they went their separate ways — she acknowledged that she wouldn’t have the career she does today if they had stayed married.

“The cookie cutter house and the cookie cutter life, that was not for me. I could’ve just been a miserable, has-been housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself,” she said.
