‘Mean Girls’ Stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried & Lacey Chabert Film Secret Project

The movie Mean Girls was released nearly 20 years ago, and immediately cemented its place in the pop culture lexicon. Starring Lindsay Lohan (at the height of her career) as Cady, it made true stars of her costars Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, who played the Plastics, the titular mean girls of the movie. Mean Girls gave us slang like "fetch" and turned the date October 3 into a national holiday. There’s even a movie adaption of the popular stage musical based on the hit film coming in January. So when the stars were spotted filming together last week, it got fans buzzing.

The ladies were seen filming together.

It must have been a Wednesday, because Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried were spotted on the mystery set wearing the Plastics’ signature color, pink. Lacey was spotted wearing two different pink dresses: one more fitted with a mock turtleneck, and another looser dress paired with a fluffy white jacket.

She was also seen behind the wheel of a silver convertible reminiscent of the one Regina drives when she tells Cady, "Get in loser, we’re going shopping."

Lindsay Lohan had a telltale accessory.

Amanda was also spotted in a pink dress leaving her trailer. According to People, at one point, she wore a blazer while holding a microphone like her character Karen does at the end of Mean Girls when she’s doing the weather report.

Unlike her costars, Lindsay sported all black, but she was carrying an oversized pouch that read "Plastics Club Member est. 2004, 'On Wednesdays we wear pink.'"

There was one key person missing from the reunion, though.

Noticeably absent was Rachel McAdams, who starred as the Plastics queen bee and ultimate mean girl Regina George. No one knows why she was missing, but the fans weren’t pleased.

"This is so exciting BUT where’s Rachel?" a fan commented.

"It's pointless without Regina," another chimed in.

Another added: "Who do they think they are? Regina like, invented them and now they’re doing a commercial without her? Shady."

The project they're filming for remains a mystery.

The pictures are making the rounds on social media, which has fans speculating on what it could all mean.

"I can’t be the only one thinking that this could be for a Superbowl commercial?" one fan posed on Instagram.

"Can we get a mean girls 2 with them being parents dealing with their kids in high school?" another asked.

There's currently no confirmation of any cameos in the musical movie.

Even though they’re probably not filming for the movie musical, which is scheduled to hit theaters in January 2024, the stars have all expressed interest in being part of the film however they can.

Earlier this year, Amanda told Entertainment Tonight that she and her fellow stars would be "100 percent into" making cameos in the film. In a 2022 interview with Amanda, Lindsay said it "would be really fun" to reprise her role on the Broadway stage.

Anything could happen!
