Though Meghan Markle‘s new Netflix series was scheduled to debut this week, fans are going to have to wait a bit longer to see it. On Sunday, Meghan announced that the original January 15 premiere date of With Love, Meghan would be delayed until March in light of the California wildfires that continue to threaten the lives and property of those in her home state. Instead of promoting the show, she’s focusing her energy elsewhere.

Meghan's new show is being pushed back two full months.
Earlier this month, Meghan revealed that she was starring in her own lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, that would follow her in the kitchen and her garden as she showed the way she liked to spread love to friends and family through cooking. But with her efforts currently focused solely on the wildfires, the show will now premiere on March 4 instead of January 15.
According to People, the delay was Meghan’s idea, but she had Netflix’s “full support.”
Meghan has released a statement on the delay.
“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” the statement read, via People.
Considering the focus on southern California in the series, it does seem like the right thing to do.
Meghan and Harry have been busy helping their community.
Though their Montecito home is about 90 miles north of Los Angeles and fortunately spared by the fires, Harry and Meghan seem to have spent the last few days doing whatever they can to help those who were affected by the fires. Page Six reported that the couple was at the Pasadena Convention Center on Friday, helping to distribute food and supplies to those who had to evacuate.

Harry even went out of his way for one of the victims.
According to what Mayor Victor Gordo told the Pasadena Star, Harry went above and beyond while talking to one elderly man at the convention center. They were handing out sandwiches, water, and snacks, but the man told Harry he’d like something a little different.
“The gentleman said, ‘What I’d really like is a donut,’” the mayor said. “[Harry] says, ‘There’s no donut here, but I will find one.’ He takes off, and 10 minutes later, he returns with a donut. The gentleman looks up and says, ‘I guess I need my carbs and my sugar.’”
The man seemingly didn’t realize he was talking to Prince Harry because he was wearing an N95 mask and a hat.
The couple has also opened up their home to friends and family who evacuated.
In a statement they released on their website, Harry and Meghan encouraged others to do the same.
“If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating,” they wrote.
