During a time when Meghan Markle should be excited about her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, streaming in just one week, she’s mourning a devastating loss instead. On Tuesday, Meghan took to her new Instagram account to share the news that her beloved dog, Guy, has died, along with an emotional tribute about how much he meant to her.

Meghan shared the heartbreaking news with a beautiful video.
Because Meghan adopted Guy in 2015 when she was living in Canada, they have nearly 10 years of history together – including memories that took place before she and Prince Harry ever met. Her Instagram post shares photos and videos of Guy through the years. At first, it’s just him and Meghan, and then, as time passes, we see footage of him with her other dogs, Prince Harry, and even with Archie and Lilibet.
She called him 'the best guy any girl could have asked for.'
“If you followed me on instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him – and on The Tig too,” Meghan wrote in her caption. “He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom …. he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.”
She talked about the good and the bad in her post, which consisted of a scary period of time when Guy had been in a “terrible accident” that left her and Harry driving to Surrey to visit with him at the animal clinic for the months it took him to recover.
She acknowledged that Guy is part of her reality series.
He appeared more than once in the trailer for With Love, Meghan, and it seems as if he loved to spend time with her while she was in the kitchen.
“Because many of you will now see Guy in this new series, I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she wrote.

Both Lili and Archie are featured in the video.
In one scene, Archie can be seen walking on a farm with his dad and holding Guy’s leash, and in another, Lilibet and Meghan are sitting on a picnic blanket with their pups. The video ends with a song all about Guy being sung by Meghan and one of her children. There’s no doubt Lili and Archie are going to miss their four-legged best friend so much.
Meghan admitted that it hasn't been easy to lose such a beloved friend.
“I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too,” she wrote in her post. “Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
Losing a pet is such a heartbreaking experience, but it sounds like Meghan and her pup were very lucky to have each other. Guy will never be forgotten!
