Some people really have nothing better to do than be mean on social media. This is never more true than when Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex does literally anything. Trolls love to mock her and be relentlessly mean. Everything she does becomes fodder for them; from her Netflix series to her lifestyle brand, to the fact that she doesn’t show her kids’ faces on social media. Most recently, it was her alleged kitchen prowess. Markle recently appeared on the Australian version of MasterChef, and when pressed about what she likes to cook, couldn’t come up with a solid answer. This brought the trolls out of the woodwork, claiming she doesn’t actually cook.
She got stumped by a question that probably stumps a lot of moms.
Markle was described as having a “deep love of home cooking” by judge Poh Ling Yeow, who added she has her “own lifestyle brand that includes beautiful artisanal food products.”
After she was brought out, judge Jean-Christophe Novelli addressed her, saying “Can I ask you please, Meghan, what is your favorite dish to cook for your family?”
She responded, saying the question was a “tough one” because she has “a lot of palates to appease” at home. As someone who cooks one meal for the whole family almost never, I can relate.
She mentioned that her husband loves a lot of “meat, potatoes and cream sauce,” while she’s more inclined to “grilled fish, grilled meats, lots of citrus.” Markle didn’t mention what kind of foods her kids typically go for.
“I just like using lots of pure natural herbs and spices,” she said.
The clip made its way to X, where people took pleasure in mocking Meghan Markle.

A royal gossip page shared the clip, writing “She can’t think of a single meal she feeds her family? What sort of person goes on MasterChef & seems surprised when they are asked about what meals they cook? She couldn’t think of anything 🤣I think we know the Nannies take care of those children.”
“She just talks and talks. This is her problem – she could just give a simple answer such as we all love Spaghetti Bolognese, but no she clearly has a chef that cooks different meals for everyone,” one person wrote.
“She’s pretentious and insufferable,” another responded. “She has had a cooking show, and knew she was going on a cooking show, but she can’t even think of ONE favorite family dish?”
“She can’t answer because she doesn’t cook for them. As a mom with 6 different pallets to please I can easily tell you, grilled chicken ceasar salad with pita bread,” someone else wrote.
“That was one of the weirdest responses. I was baffled. I was thinking just say fried chicken for gosh sake,” another person commented.
“For years they never had a favorite family dish that they can share. Are they not close?” another commenter wondered.
People continuously mock Markle for her skills in the kitchen.

Back in June, Meghan Markle posted a carousel on Instagram of images to celebrate the transition from spring to summer.
In one slide, she is shown chopping an onion, and people had a lot of opinions about her skills, or lack thereof.
“Oh my god, her knife skills are abhorrent,” one person wrote after the clip made its way to Reddit.
“Good lord. Those knife skills. It’s like she’s got lobster claws instead of hands,” someone else commented.
And in October 2025, trolls came after the Duchess after she was seen holding a pair of canning tongs upside down.
In a video promoting her lifestyle brand As Ever, eagle-eyed haters noticed that she was holding the utensil by the rubberized end, dipping the foam handles into the water to allegedly remove the jar from hot water.
