With kids, you never know when something dangerous can happen. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his wife Lauren learned this lesson the hard way recently when their son, 2-year-old Romeo, began choking at the dinner table. It’s a terrifying situation for any parent to witness, but thankfully Jersey Shore's Mike and his wife moved quickly to help their son. Seeing it all play out really hammers home just how important it is to know what to do if something like this happens.

The whole ordeal was caught on camera.
Mike recently took to Instagram to share the Ring camera footage that caught Romeo choking — not only to tell his followers about the terrifying ordeal, but to also show how quickly something like this can happen with a young child.
Mike called it 'the scariest moment of our lives.'
"It was an ordinary dinner at the Situations when suddenly without notice Romeo started choking on his favorite pasta pesto gnocchi !! He hunched over and wasn’t breathing," Mike explained in his caption on the post.

Mike is proud of how he and Lauren handled things.
"I am so proud of how my wife and I didn’t panic, didn’t hesitate and eventually dislodged the food which was blocking airway and saved his life. I love my family with all my heart and am so grateful things worked out," he wrote. "It’s safe to say we are now taking CPR lessons and Romeo won’t be having gnocchi anytime soon."
Can't blame him there!
The clip shows just how calmly everyone reacted.
In the video, Mike and Romeo, along with an unidentified person, are sitting at the table, eating. Soon, someone asks Romeo if his food is "too hot" and suddenly the boy slumps over. Mike quickly gets up and rushes to his son’s side, bending the boy over and patting on his back until he begins to cough and cry.
So many people commented positively.
Many people praised the Sorrentinos’ quick thinking and action, including some of Mike’s Jersey Shore costars.
