Now that 2022 is coming to a close, it's time to reflect on the year we're leaving behind. And when it comes to our favorite celebrity families, a lot has happened. Not only did we lose the woman who is possibly the most famous great-grandmother in the world in September (Queen Elizabeth, of course) but there were so many new celeb babies being born as their famous parents documented the beginning of their new lives.
And thanks to social media, plenty of moms and dads out there have an easy way to share their children's milestones, funny moments, and big events with everyone they know at once, and that includes our favorite Hollywood parents (though their Instagram audience might be just a tad bigger than your average online mama). We get to watch these kids grow up, and it's so much fun.
From the hijinks that made Prince Louis go viral to the way that Britney Spears' sons spoke out about their mom in the press, here are the most unforgettable celebrity kid moments of 2022. What a year!
North West's TikTok Presence
Now that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter North is 9 years old, she's really coming into her own and showing off her big personality online. She and her mom now share a TikTok account, and even though North is usually the focus of each video, we can't get enough of the content where they're doing something silly together. It's no wonder they already have more than 10 million followers!
The Duggar Family Got Bigger
It's no surprise 19 Kids and Counting's Duggar family continued to grow in 2023, adding three new grandchildren who were officially announced: Katey and Jed's son, Truett; Jill and Derick's third child, Frederick; and John David and Abbie's second child, Charlie. But given that Jim Bob Duggar's grandchild count is approaching 30, including the pregnant daughters and daughters-in-law who will give birth in 2023, it's safe to say at least a couple more were privately born this year, too.
Octomom's Kids Became Teenagers
Remember Nadya Suleman, the woman dubbed "Octomom?" Years ago, she became a public figure when she carried and gave birth to octuplets, and in January, those babies turned 13 years old, officially entering their teenage years. How did this happen already?!
Kylie Jenner Changed Her Son's Name
As if it wasn't enough of a big deal for Kylie Jenner to welcome her second child — a baby boy — into the world in February, just one month later, she announced that she changed his name. Originally, she and Travis Scott chose to call their baby boy Wolf, but later Kylie admitted it didn't feel right to her so she changed it. It's been almost a year, and we still don't know what name she finally landed on.
True Thompson's Disneyland Photoshopping Controversy
While we're on the subject of Kardashian kids, we can't forget to mention another moment that made headlines this year. Basically, Kim Kardashian had shared a photo of her daughter Chicago West with Khloé's daughter, True Thompson, at Disneyland at the end of 2021 that seemed obviously edited, and after True celebrated her birthday there in March, Khloé got called out for the shady edit job. She had no choice but to admit that it had actually been Kylie Jenner's child Stormi in the photo originally, creating a seriously bizarre situation that kept people talking.
Cristiano Ronaldo Tragically Lost His Child
When Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez went into the hospital to welcome their twins, unfortunately, they only left with one baby. Their baby boy didn't survive childbirth, which is something that Cristiano later called the worst moment of his life.
The Gosselin Sextuplets Turned 18
Jon and Kate Gosselin's TLC reality show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, came to an end a long time ago, but this year, their sextuplets hit a major milestone. The siblings turned 18 in May — a cause for celebration for dad Jon, who has had custody of Hannah and Collin.
Prince Louis Stole the Show
Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee might have been meant to celebrate 70 years of her reign, but Prince Louis made it all about him. During the events that week, Louis took center stage as he behaved just like any 4-year-old child would — he refused to stay still and showed off all of his sass.
Lilibet Turned 1
Another big moment for the royal family came in June: the first birthday of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's daughter. Not only did Lilibet get to celebrate her big day while her family was visiting the UK for the Jubilee, but fans were treated to a new portrait of her, too.

J.Lo & Ben Affleck's Blended Family
Though there were certainly rumors that not all of Ben Affleck's children were happy about his summer wedding to Jennifer Lopez, it seems like everyone managed to kiss and make up pretty quickly. The couple's blended brood was photographed joining their parents on their honeymoon in Paris.
Archie's Fire
During an August episode of her podcast, Archetypes, Meghan Markle revealed for the first time that son Archie's nursery caught fire during her family's African tour in 2019.
"We had to leave our baby. Even though we were being moved to another place afterwards, we still had to leave him and go do another official engagement," she said of the ordeal.
Britney Spears' Sons Spoke Out
In August, a public fight between Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline got even uglier when their 15-year-old son, Jayden, spoke out about his mom in an interview with ITV, revealing that he and his brother, Preston, didn't want to spend time with her until she was able to "get better mentally."
The Royal Kids Started at a New School
After Prince William and Kate Middleton's big move to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor at the end of the summer, it meant that kids George, Charlotte, and Louis all started at a new school in the fall — and it was the first time that all three of them were able to attend the same school. They were all smiles when they arrived on the first day.
The Queen's Funeral
Shortly after they started at their new school, William and Kate's kids sadly had to say goodbye to their great-grandmother. After Queen Elizabeth died just days later, Charlotte and George attended the funeral with their parents, though Louis stayed home.
Taylor Hawkins' Son Paid Tribute to His Late Dad
A few months after the unexpected death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in March, his son stepped up to fill his dad's musical shoes. The 16-year-old played the drums at a tribute concert in September for his father with the rest of the band when they performed "My Hero."
The Baldwin Family Grew Again
In September, the already-big Baldwin family got even bigger. Hilaria and Alec Baldwin welcomed their seventh child together, a baby girl named Ilaria. No word on whether or not she's their last, though; so far, Hilaria isn't guaranteeing that she's done having babies, even though it sounds like she's leaning that way based on what she's said in recent interviews.
Kanye West's Soccer Showdown
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have had a lot of public co-parenting battles since they went their separate ways, so it wasn't shocking to see that one of Ye's meltdowns happened in front of his kid (and the entire soccer team). In October, footage surfaced of Ye getting into it with another parent when he was there to watch Saint's game.
Beyoncé's Family Won Halloween
We see a lot of impressive celebrity Halloween costumes every year, but Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and their three children were the clear winners in 2022. They all dressed up as the family from Disney's The Proud Family, giving us a rare glimpse of twins Sir and Rumi in the process.
Lily Rose Depp Spoke Out
So many people followed along with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's contentious trial earlier this year, but one person who didn't speak out about the situation was Johnny's daughter, Lily Rose Depp. In November, she finally revealed why: As she told Elle, she didn't want to "answer for anybody."
"I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that's my family members or my boyfriends, whatever," she told the magazine. "And I'm really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there."
Collin Gosselin Opened Up About His Mom
After being estranged from mom Kate Gosselin for years, Collin Gosselin, who turned 18 along with his sextuplet siblings in May 2022, spoke out about their relationship in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"My mom had her own agenda, and I don't know exactly what that was," he said. "But I was put in a tough spot, and my agenda was to make it out on top of that tough spot."
