What to Know
Since performing at president Donald Trump‘s inauguration last year, Carrie Underwood has received a lot of side eye, and at this point, it doesn’t look like anyone has forgotten about it — including her Hollywood peers. In fact, soap opera star Nancy Lee Grahn has made it clear that she won’t watch anything that Carrie is a part of, and she’s not afraid to make sure that everyone knows it.
It all started when Carrie was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Carrie joined the show with her fellow American Idol judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, chatting about the new season of the singing competition show that premiered in January.
Though General Hospital star Nancy is a regular viewer of the late night show, she told her followers on Threads that if Carrie was on camera, she was going to have to sit that week’s episodes out.
“See ya next week @jimmykimmel. I refuse to even look at @carrieunderwood,” Nancy wrote in a post on Threads.
Nancy found plenty of people to agree with her.
She was met with understanding from likeminded followers, one of whom wrote, “When I read this, I was confused, but I remember American Idol judges are going to be on tonight and Carrie Underwood is MAGA which is very confusing because Trump tried to cancel Jimmy Kimmel and yet he brought her on the show. My next question for him is why would you bring her on? She needs to be at the dumpsters instead…”
Even fellow celebrities chimed in, including comedian Kathy Griffin. adding “Yeah, no love for MAGA Carrie. It’s not just about political disagreements.”
Nancy has always been outspoken about her political beliefs — Carrie, not so much.
After Carrie received backlash for performing at the inauguration, she released a statement about her decision to take Trump up on the offer.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement to People at the time. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Meanwhile, those who follow Nancy online already know that she describes herself as an “activist” on social media and frequently speaks out about the causes that matter to her, so it’s no surprise that she’s not Carrie’s biggest fan.
