Nick Cannon Says He Would Get Back Together With Mariah Carey: ‘We Belong Together’

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey got divorced eight years ago, but Nick would still be interested in rekindling the relationship if given the opportunity. Nick, 43, told E! News on August 6 that he would "absolutely" get back together with his ex-wife. Mariah, 55, and Nick tied the knot in 2008 shortly after they started dating. In 2011, they welcomed their twins, Monroe and Moroccan. A few years later, in 2014, they split up. They finalized their divorce in 2016. Now, although they're no longer together, they continue to co-parent their twins.

Nick says he would get back together with Mariah if he could.

In the recent interview with E! News, Nick said it would "be stupid if I wouldn’t" get back together with Mariah. Referencing Mariah's 2005 hit song, Nick joked, "We belong together."

It's not the first time that Nick has opened up about his lingering feelings for his ex-wife. In 2022, on The Hottee Talk Show Podcast, Nick said, "I will never have a love like I had with Mariah."

But she's not interested.

When asked why he and Mariah haven't gotten back together, Nick revealed that it's because Mariah isn't interested. “She don’t want me," he told E! News.

In February, when asked about the possibility of rekindling the relationship, Nick implied that it depended on whether Mariah was interested. "I mean, you gotta ask her!" he told E! News at the time. “Let me know what she says! Ask her, text me, we can talk through you. It’s Valentines is in the air, you can be the chocolate cupid. Let’s do it, I’m with it.”

His kids might have something to do with it.

During the recent interview, Nick's We Playin’ Spades cohost Courtney Bee pointed out one of the reasons Mariah might not be interested in getting back together with him: "You done left and had like 10 kids.”

Nick Cannon truly has fathered 12 children. Mariah is reportedly not bothered by this — but she's not involved and prefers it that way, Nick explained on REVOLT’s The Jason Lee Show podcast in 2023.

"She always asks me, ‘You aight? You good? How you doing? You handling it all?’” Nick said at the time. "She’s like, 'as long as you don’t bring none of that bulls— to the Manor of Carey.' Like, she lives in her own world, nothing can infiltrate that stuff. When we talk daily, she’s just checking on my spirit."

Nick wasn't offended by Courtney's comment.

Nick has welcomed 12 children with six different women. Courtney's comment about it didn't bother him, and he admitted that the number of children he has is like "a whole baseball team."

In addition to the two kids Nick shares with Mariah, he also has three children with Brittany Bell, three children with Abby De La Rosa, one son with Bre Tiesi, and one daughter with LaNisha Cole. In 2021, he and Alyssa Scott welcomed a son who died five months later because of a malignant brain tumor. He and Alyssa welcomed another child in 2022.

Nick and Mariah make things work.

Mariah wrote about her relationship with Nick in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Although their split was "tough," she said, "We both wanted to make sure everything was cool for our family. We will always be family, and we make it work."

In 2019, she reflected on co-parenting with Nick. "I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk," she told People.
