The Original Black Power Ranger Is Almost 60 & People On Social Media Are Freaking Out

Kids of the '90s, prepare to feel older than you already do. We just found out that, Walter Emmanuel Jones, who we all know and love as Zach, the black ranger on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, is closer to age 60 than he is to 50. If that doesn't make you feel bad enough, it's been over 30 years since the show first premiered.

Despite the fact that they were playing teenagers on the show, all of the actors were in their 20s when they appeared on the show. Walter Jones' recent age reveal has forced many original Power Rangers fans to accept the fact that we're all grown up, despite the fact that Walter himself seems to have barely aged at all.

You're never going to believe how old he is.

In a TikTok video duet with the account @Black Nostalgia, Walter is seen smiling as the original video talks about how he looks like he hasn't aged much since Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered in 1993.

"This man is 53 years old," Tracee, the person making the video says. Walter then uses his hands to say that he's actually 57. If you were to Google him, it lists his birth year as 1970, but we know these things can be wrong.

No one can believe it.

One person commented: "I know he didn’t say ✌ . 57? ."

"I was going to say how are you 57 but I’m still in denial about being 37 so I’m just going to go lay down ," another person wrote.

Someone else wrote: "57?!? IKYFL."

"Sir, where is the fountain of youth?" someone joked. "You & Pharrell don't have to tell everyone. Just me. ."

So many people were excited for the opportunity to give Walter his flowers.

"I would run to the tv just to see them as a child and would still run to the tv to see them that season and turbo was my favorite seasons omg ," one person said.

"My husband got a Ford Black Ranger truck and was mad I named it Zack ," another person wrote.

Another comment read: "Dude, time just stopped for you! Keep up the hard work! POWER RANGERS FOR LIFE! ."

Walter left 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' in 1994, but his legacy remains.

If you watched the show, you may remember that Zack, as well as two other characters, Jason and Trini, left the show in 1994, and were replaced by new characters. During an interview with Austin St. John, who played Jason the red ranger, they explained that their departure from the show was over treatment and pay.

"We wanted to stand up for ourselves because we felt like we were being bullied, and we felt like we deserved more, and that we had earned the right to be treated like professional actors," he explained.

In 2023, Netflix reunited many members of the original cast for the movie Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which was made to mark the 30th anniversary of the show's premiere. Walter returned to play Zach, who was now the guardian of Trini's teenage daughter.

"I just wanted the fans to know that being a Ranger was always in my heart, and it was something that I would always want to do. I would always be willing to step back into that place if need be," he explained. "I didn't anticipate that it would take so long to get back, but I was happy to be back."
