It might be February, but dad bod season is here … mostly because one of the most famous men in the country right now has declared it so. After a video of him going shirtless went viral, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes decided to lean in and embrace the love of the dad bod.
Patrick, who is a dad of two, had the perfect reaction to sports fans who mocked him for having a little bit of a tummy. Instead of being offended, he owned it, and people are loving him even more for it.

It started innocently enough.
A video circulated from Inside the NFL of Patrick shirtless and congratulating his team after Kansas City’s win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championships. A screenshot of the video began making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), eventually making its way to Patrick himself.
Patrick immediately got in on the joke.
Thankfully, he took it all in stride and even had a little fun with it along the way.
“Yoooo why they have to do me like that!?!?!? #DadBodSZN,” he tweeted. He followed up his initial comment in a quote tweet, adding, “Like i got kids!!!!”

He is being compared to another famous football playing dad.
Some people took to comparing Patrick’s body to Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce’s body after he was photographed shirtless at the Chiefs-Bills game rooting for the Chiefs, the team his brother Travis Kelce plays for.
“You and Jason Kelce doing more for dad bods than anyone in history,” NFL analyst Matt Miller tweeted.
Patrick got a lot of love for his body, especially from the ladies.
Many fans totally supported Patrick and his dad bod.
“You’re more active than 90% of dads for sure,” one person replied. “You earned the working dad bod!”
“Look @PatrickMahomes — most of us women are absolutely IN LOVE WITH AND PREFER a Dad Bod,” another replied. “You’re doing just fine, Goat,”
Another commenter added: “This makes me love him even more. @PatrickMahomes is completely perfect — I won’t let anyone tell me anything different about a dad bod!!”
Does this mean that people will finally begin to embrace the dad bod?
Many men were excited that someone like Patrick chose to normalize the dad bod, and praised him for it.
“Thank you for bringing awareness to this!” one person tweeted.
“Hey man you makin’ me feel better about my body,” another wrote.
Sounds like a worthwhile viral moment for him!
