Prince Harry Wanted To Interview Trump & Putin About Trauma Before Deal With Spotify Ended

In a perfect world, Prince Harry's Spotify podcast would've involved combining two of the prince's most oft-covered topics: childhood trauma and mental health. Multiple news outlets are reporting a bit of the behind-the-scenes conversations between Harry and executives, and it sounds like nobody was a fan of his ideas … and now, it's easy to see why.

Harry had some big plans that involved talking to many high-profile people.

According to the Daily Mail, Harry wanted to dig deep into some of the things that happened in the childhoods of notable personalities such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Mark Zuckerberg.

Harry wanted to chat about their different upbringings and what made them the people they ended up becoming.

There were many conversations about his plans.

It sounds like he met with more than one executive and talked to some producers and production companies about his ideas.

Based on what we know about what came of those ideas — Harry's solo podcast never launched, despite his massive $20 million deal — we have to assume they weren't well-received at the top.

He also had another unusual interview request.

Bloomberg has reported that Harry had his eyes set on the head of the Catholic church as well.

He is rumored to have wanted to interview Pope Francis about religion, something that left the executives even more confused than his other planned topics.

This new revelation comes hot on the heels of the cancellation of Harry and Meghan's Spotify projects and some pretty harsh allegations about the two.

Spotify executive Bill Simmons bashed the Sussexes over the failed deal.

Bill talked about the end of the arrangement on his own podcast one day after the pair announced the end of their deal.

"The f—ing grifters. That's the podcast we should have launched with them," he joked at the time. "I've got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It's one of my best stories."

Now that's an episode we'd listen to!

This latest peek into the Spotify relationship doesn't jive with Harry and Meghan's version of the split.

Spotify and Meghan and Harry's company Archewell put out a joint statement June 15 announcing the end of their deal, saying they had "mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together."

Based on the statement from Bill and what we're hearing about the work Harry and Meghan had planned to put together, we're not exactly sure the statement rings true anymore.
