Harry and Meghan detailed the scary ordeal in a statement published by USA Today.
The pair said in the statement that they were involved in the chase that nearly turned deadly following a charity event in New York City.
According to the statement, overeager paparazzi were so desperate for a photo that the chase "resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers."
The strongly worded statement admonished the photographers.
"While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety," a representative for the pair said.
"Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all in involved."
The NYPD spoke out about the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Public Information for the New York Police Department Julian Phillips addressed Harry's claims with an emailed statement. Julian confirmed that the NYPD aided the royals and their security team while they were in town, confirming Harry and Meghan's claims.
"There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging," the NYPD representative said. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard."
Even the mayor chimed in.

On Wednesday New York City Mayor Eric Adams told reporters that it was "reckless and irresponsible" for people to drive this way within the city limits, especially considering how densely populated the area is.
While he admitted that he hadn't been fully briefed on what happened, he did express concern over the police force, noting that "two of our officers could have been injured."

This is eerily similar to Princess Diana's experience.

We can't help but wonder if this made Harry think about how his mother lost her life. The late Princess Diana died after being chased into a tunnel by paparazzi while visiting France. The moment obviously shaped much of Harry's life, so we can't imagine what it must have felt like for him to endure a similar experience with his own wife.
While we're sure both Harry and Meghan are angry and shaken up, we hope that everyone truly was physically unscathed after the chase.
