The meet-cute moments. The witty banter. The dramatic declaration of love (usually following a scene featuring someone running through an airport, thinking they missed their chance), and the guarantee of a happy ending. Yep, we love a romantic comedy or romantic drama movie. One of the things that can make a rom-com work is when there is great chemistry between the actors. We want to believe that these are people who are in love. Well, it turns out that in some cases, they were!
Some of the stars of our favorite romantic movies found love on and off screen with their costars. Although some of these relationships weren't meant to stand the test of time, there are a few of these rom-com pairings that led to marriage and lasting love. We're obsessed with a real-life happy ending, so we love to see it.
From Kurt and Goldie in a 1980s classic to the brief pairing of a Taylor and another Taylor, we've got the definitive list of 15 celebrity couples who found love and dated in real life, after shooting some of our favorite romantic movies.

Amanda Seyfried & Dominic Cooper
Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper played a young couple in love in the first Mama Mia movie and were a real-life couple from 2007 to 2011. By the time they appeared together again in the 2018 sequel Mama Mia: Here We Go Again, they'd both moved on to other long-term relationships.
Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are famously one of Hollywood's most enduring couples (though they've never married). The pair got together in 1983, and their chemistry was on full display in the 1987 classic rom-com Overboard, which was a major hit for them.
Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck starred in the critical and box office flop Gigli in 2003. Their relationship flopped not too long after that, but we all know that they eventually got their real-life happy ending when they reconnected and married in 2022. We suspect they won't be making a Gigli 2 anytime soon, though!

Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard
There are some couples on this list who we totally forgot dated, but we completely remember their rom-com movie. It's the opposite for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, though. We totally know they are still married, but does anyone remember that they starred in a 2012 movie called Hit and Run together? Given that the film made only $16 million, we're going to guess the answer is no!
Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling
OK, so technically The Notebook isn't a romantic comedy but, honestly, is there a movie that is more romantic than that one? The ending makes us cry every single time. In real life, stars Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling dated for about two years following that film, though they are both partnered and parenting with other people now.
Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's sometimes tumultuous relationship began on the 2009 set of the movie The Last Song. The pair got engaged in 2012, broke up, got back together, married, and are now divorced, so it appears they are over for good now.
Joey King & Jacob Elordi
Young Hollywood stars Joey King and Jacob Elordi met on the set of the first The Kissing Booth movie (there are three in the series) and sparks flew. They dated for about a year, but ended up breaking up right before the movie debuted on Netflix. That is some awkward timing!
Taylor Swift & Taylor Lautner
Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner met on the set of the 2009 rom-com Valentine's Day. They played a high school couple, and life imitated art when they started dating soon after. Their relationship was fairly short-lived, and they broke up several months later. Taylor Lautner would go on to marry a different woman named Taylor because that's not confusing at all.
Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn
We totally forgot that these two used to date! Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn were an item for a short time in 2005 after meeting on the set of their rom-com The Break-Up. It was Jen's first public relationship after the end of her marriage to Brad Pitt but didn't last very long as the pair split after less than a year.
Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron
Love was in the air on the set of the High School Musical films, and Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron felt that vibe from the moment they met in the auditions. They ended up falling in love on screen and in real life, going on to date for four years before breaking up in 2010.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie famously got very, very close while filming the 2005 action rom-com Mr. & Mrs. Smith, despite the fact that Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston at the time. The movie was a big success, and Brangelina seemed like Hollywood's hottest couple for years until their messy split in 2016.

Amanda Bynes & Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum is no stranger to falling in love on a movie set. He not only met his now ex-wife Jenna Dewan while filming the movie Step Up, but he also is rumored to have had a fling with his She's the Man costar Amanda Bynes. The two were spotted kissing in public, but it seems like it was a fairly short-lived and casual relationship.
Anna Faris & Chris Pratt
We knew that Anna Faris and Chris Pratt were a couple, of course, but we didn't realize that their relationship actually started on the set of a rom-com. The two met in 2007 while filming a little-seen movie called Take Me Home Tonight, which came out in 2011 (and made a mere $7 million — ouch!).
Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson
No, the Twilight movies don't usually get described as a rom-coms, but we'll argue that they are. After all, there is definitely romance and the cheesy special effects do make us laugh. That creepy baby in the last film? Pure comedy. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were a major couple for years after those films, until a cheating scandal broke them up in 2013.
Diane Keaton & Jack Nicholson
Diane Keaton has had a pretty epic love life with some of Hollywood's biggest leading names. She and Jack Nicholson were a couple in the super successful 2002 movie Something's Gotta Give. Her acting in that role was said to be inspired by her old crush on Jack, whom she is rumored to have dated in the past.
