What to Know
A stuntman who worked with Ryan Reynolds on the 2022 holiday movie Spirited claims that the actor has ruined his career. Todd Bryant was working as a stunt coordinator on the movie when he lost his job, which he thinks Ryan had something to do with — and he claims that he’s been struggling to find work ever since.
Ironically enough, Todd divulged all of this information in an interview with someone who isn’t a huge fan of Ryan’s wife, Blake Lively.
Todd believes Ryan wasn’t his biggest fan when they met on the set of Spirited.
All of these accusations came out while talking to journalist and YouTuber Kjersti Flaa. You may remember her from the early days of the It Ends With Us drama — she came forward and said that she commented on Blake’s baby bump during an interview, prompting Blake to fire back, “congrats on your little bump.”
While appearing on Kjersti’s YouTube series, Todd shared the story of how he was fired from the movie Spirited and why he thinks “Ryan was behind it.” Even though he’d worked with Ryan’s costar, Will Ferrell, for more than a decade, it still ended up being his last stunt job.
“I have emails from someone who is very tight with Will … saying, ‘It was Ryan Reynolds that got you fired,’” Todd said.
According to him, Ryan wasn’t able to do a trampoline stunt himself, but wasn’t able to master it. Then, when Todd refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine, he was let go from the production.
“I really believe that Ryan Reynolds didn’t like me, and he wanted me gone, and they used this — he used it as an excuse,” he said.
He hasn’t worked a single stunt job since.
Ryan Reynolds got me fired off Spirited. I was the stunt coordinator. Will Ferrell’s double for 13 years. After that, the work stopped. 8-minute cut in the reply below shows the career, the firing, and what came after. https://t.co/UJqt834NSF

He went on to agree with Kjersti when she suggested that it was Ryan’s way of “punishing” him.
“He got me fired and, not only did I get fired, but my entire career was ruined,” he said. “You know, when you get fired off of a show for ‘not obeying,’ Hollywood tends to put you on a blacklist. And that’s the last stunt job I ever did.”
Todd has been ranting about this situation online nonstop.
I personally handed Will Ferrell this COVID 19 mandate exemption letter before I submitted it to the "Spirited" production (working title "Chili") staring Will, and Ryan Reynolds. I had already been working on the production for 3 months as the Stunt Coordinator and as Will Ferrell’s Stunt Double, and there were another 2 months to go. They made the choice to mandate the vaccine more than half way into production. When I signed my contract, there was no vaccine mandate on this production. And they assured me that there would not be one. So I gave up other work offers and committed to work on this movie. When I refused the vaccine and presented this letter of exemption, they fired me. Ryan Reynolds had already convinced Will Ferrell and producers to mandate the vaccine. They made an example of me to the entire cast and crew. If they can fire a department head AND Will Ferrell’s personal stunt double for 13 years… The rest of the employees were more likely to comply. 👀

In posts on X, Todd has been all about calling out Ryan (and even Will) for what he perceives as their career ending decision.
“Ryan Reynolds got me fired. Not only that, but he made sure to convince Will Ferrell to go along with it,” he wrote in a September 4 post. “Apple TV HR department did the dirty over the phone. The 2 cowards were together on set the last night I was on the job talking and smiling at me from a distance knowing that their work was done. Congrats to Ryan and Will for ending a good man’s career.”
So far, neither of the actors has responded to Todd’s claims.
