After news broke earlier this week that Sam Asghari and Britney Spears are getting divorced after 14 months of marriage, the singer's soon to be ex-husband is speaking out. Sam broke his silence with an Instagram post on Thursday, but despite his insistence that their split is low drama, more rumors about what might have gone wrong continue to swirl.

Sam took to Instagram to share his thoughts.

"After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together," Sam wrote. "We will hold the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S— happens. Asking for privacy seems r[i]diculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."
Sam's rep also insisted that he's not trying to extort his ex-wife.
As soon as news broke of their divorce, there were reports that Sam was trying to "blackmail" Britney to renegotiate their prenup, but his rep, Brandon Cohen, tells People in a statement that's not the case.
"There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos," Cohen's statement read. "However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her."
The situation behind the scenes could be more dramatic than Sam's letting on.
On Thursday, TMZ reported that Sam believes that Britney cheated on him with at least one member of her staff, with a source telling the site that Sam has seen "footage" that leads him to this conclusion.
Reportedly, Sam has wanted to leave for a while, but this recent incident was the final straw.
Britney's already assembled an impressive team of lawyers.

According to Variety, Britney will continue to work with her lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, who helped her bring an end to her longtime conservatorship under father Jamie Spears. And now, she has also hired one of the most popular divorce lawyers in Hollywood: Laura Wasser.

At this point, it seems like Britney's prenup is iron-clad.
Sources familiar with their agreement told TMZ that Britney will not owe Sam any money after their divorce becomes final — reportedly, he can keep the gifts that Britney has given him over the years (cars included), but she will not be required to give him a payout or any spousal support.
However, the news outlet claimed that she may feel compelled to give him some type of settlement to ensure that Sam continues to keep with the "extensive confidentiality clause" in the prenup that may not be enforceable in court if he chooses to break it post-split.
It's certainly going to be interesting to see how this situation continues to play out.
