When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to divorce in 2016, many people were shocked, especially when Angelina alleged that Brad had been abusive to her and by extension to their kids. In the years since their divorce, the Jolie-Pitt kids have begun to distance themselves from their famous father, and it seems that their daughter Shiloh is the latest kid to do so.
It looks like Shiloh is joining her sister Zahara in dropping Brad Pitt’s last name from her own, and they may not be the only ones. It’s hard to know what kind of relationship Brad has with his children since he and his ex separated and are the in the midst of a nasty divorce. But if the kids are choosing to drop the surname Pitt, it certainly makes us wonder what’s going on.

Shiloh is stretching her wings.

TMZ reported that Shiloh, who recently turned 18, has taken legal steps to drop the last name Pitt. The news outlet shared that Shiloh actually filed the paperwork for the name change on her 18th birthday, which was May 27.
Clearly she wasn’t wasting any time making her first decision as a legal adult. If the name change is granted (it hasn’t been yet, but there doesn’t seem to be a reason not to), the teen will legally be known as simply Shiloh Jolie.
Dropping Pitt seems to be common among the kids.
It appears that Shiloh isn’t the only one of Brad’s biological kids to drop his last name from their own. Vivienne, one of Brad and Angelina’s 15-year-old twins, recently surprised people when it became known that she was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the playbill for the Broadway musical The Outsiders.
Vivienne is credited as a producer of the show alongside mom Angelina. Though she is credited that way, no one knows if Vivienne has followed her big sister and made the change legal.
Zahara was the first to publicly change her name.
Last fall, Brad and Angelina’s oldest daughter, Zahara, sent shockwaves out when she inadvertently announced that she had dropped Pitt from her last name. Zahara unofficially made the announcement that she only uses her mom’s last name during an induction ceremony into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College. She introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”

Angelina's oldest has moved on from his dad too.
A 2021 report from Us Weekly claims that oldest son Maddox, whom Angelina adopted before she began dating Brad, had also stopped using the name Pitt.
“He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support,” a source told the news outlet at the time.
There is no love lost between Brad and son Pax.
Upon separating, Angelina was granted custody of their four kids, which also includes sons Pax and Maddox. It has been reported that since then, Brad has had a strained relationship with his kids, which Pax seemed to confirm in a 2020 social media rant on Father’s Day.
“Happy Father’s Day, you f—ing awful human being!!!” then 16-year-old Pax wrote.
