Tammy Slaton from TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters has a reason for sharing so many selfies on social media. In a video shared on August 27, Tammy explained how selfies help her reflect on her weight loss journey. "I take a lot of pictures, a lot of selfies, not because I think I look good — well, I do, a little bit — but mostly because I want to remember how big I was, what I looked like,” she explained.

Tammy has lost 500 pounds.
Since TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters premiered in 2020, Tammy has lost 500 pounds. "I reflect, dude, I was huge! I lost 500 pounds. I would not be able to sit in this chair," she said in her video.
Her weight loss journey has not been easy, and the purpose of her Instagram account, she explained in the caption for her video, is to spread "love" and "positivity" while "celebrating every step of the journey."
"My life has been a rollercoaster, and I’m proud to share that I’ve lost over 500 pounds," she wrote in the caption.
She admits that she lost herself at one point.
As she tried to lose weight, Tammy believes she also lost herself in the process. "I think I was trying to be so focused on losing weight that I lost myself. Lost who I was and I turned to alcohol instead of food. At the same time, I was still eating. So I was doing both. Damage in two different ways,” she said in the video.
In a post on August 28, she encouraged her followers to remember who they are as they navigate various challenges in their lives, whether it's weight loss or something else.
"Losing weight, overcoming challenges, and transforming your life are incredible achievements, but in the process, never forget who you are at your core," she wrote.

Falling back on bad habits would be easy, she admitted.
Because her weight loss journey was of course difficult, she admitted that it would've been easy to just give up and revert back to old habits. “It would be so easy to fall back into bad habits and gain all the weight back but then what was this all for?" she shared in her video. "Waste of time, waste of money, wasted effort.”
She lost weight through lifestyle changes, not a diet.
Though she did not discuss her weight loss methods in her video, she emphasized that it is "not a diet." Instead, it is a "lifestyle change." To lose weight, she also had to face her "inner demons," she explained.
"I had a lot of demons, inner demons, that I had to fight. And I’m still fighting," she said.
Above all, she wants to create a positive and encouraging community.
In her video, she had a positive message to share with fans: "You’re not alone. You can do anything once you put your mind to it. Never give up.”
In the caption, she went into detail about how she seeks to spread "love and positivity." "We’re all in this together, and I believe in lifting each other up, one day at a time," she wrote.
