It has been a few months since Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans lost custody of her son Jace Evans, yet again. She had regained custody of the teen from her mom, Barbara Evans, in the spring 2023. Then at the end of the summer, Jace ran away from home for the first time. He returned and then ran away two more times before he was removed from Jenelle’s home after claiming that her husband David Eason assaulted him.
Now, he’s in the care of Child Protective Services and has reportedly been in contact with his father, Andrew Lewis, for the first time since he was a baby.

It is a father-son reunion 13 years in the making.
The U.S. Sun reported that Jace and Andrew have been in contact for several months, but they recently saw each other for the first time since Jace was a baby and Andrew and Jenelle were on the MTV show, 16 and Pregnant. Andrew even posted about it on social media.
Andrew and Jace have been quietly getting to know each other.
“Andrew was brought into Jace's Child Protective Services case since he's his father and could potentially have a claim for custody,” a source told the news outlet.
“Since he's involved in the case, he's been given access to Jace and has been having regular conversations with him over the past several months," the source added.
This doesn't mean that Andrew will be attempting to gain custody.
“Andrew has really gotten involved in Jace's life and has shown a vested interest in being part of his life moving forward,” the insider said. “Andrew has made a real effort to be involved in the outcome of Jace's custody.”
Still, the source explained that Andrew doesn’t want custody of his son.

Jace is still in the care of Child Protective Services.
Even though he doesn’t want custody of Jace, Andrew also hasn’t expressed any feelings about who he should end up with, Barbara or Jenelle. Jace went back to live with Barbara briefly following his confession that David had attacked him, but then he ran away from her home as well. He is now fully under the care of CPS.
There has been an update in David Eason's child abuse case as well.
After the assault allegations were made, David was charged with child abuse. Earlier this month, his child abuse case was upgraded from a misdemeanor to a felony.
“They found enough evidence to take his case out of district court, where misdemeanors are held, and bring it to superior,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. David has been barred from contact with Jace, and the teen reportedly hasn’t been in contact with his mother, either.
